The director of immunizations of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), María Elena Martínez, commented during an interview with Canal N that there is no batch of vaccines that are about to expire that is being applied, this despite the fact that there is little influx in vaccines in Lima and Callao.

“We have the vaccine expiration report and this has been 8580 that were dated February 2022, in fact those vaccines have not been applied in the country, they are already in the process, but we do not have any other batch that is close to expiration and that we are now applying, that is by no means the Ministry of Health would allow it, Martinez commented.

In addition, he commented that there are difficulties in health facilities with the registration of information of vaccinated persons.

On the other hand, she was asked if there is anyone responsible for decreasing the vaccination and she replied that what they want is to “beat time.

We are not talking about someone responsible, what we want is to beat time. I think that all of us who are leading this program of vaccination process, which is really need to move fast and that of moving fast is achieving goals per day,” he continued.

Let us recall that the former ministers of health, Hernando Cevallos and Oscar Ugarte point out Condori's management as responsible for the above.

“We are talking with immunization coordinators from all over Peru, implementing rapid and timely strategies so that citizens can access the vaccine at times when a brigade is located and that is why I want you through the media to help citizens allow we nurses vaccinate them,” he said.

It ended by encouraging people to get vaccinated with either the first, second or third dose.

“The vaccination centers have not been closed have enough vaccines so we invite all people who have not completed the vaccination schedule,” he concluded.

HERNÁN CONDORI ASSURES THAT THE VACCINATION PROCESS HAS NOT SLOWED

The Minister of Health, Hernán Condori, at another time, said that the vaccination process against COVID-19 has not slowed down in our country. However, the figures presented say otherwise. In the latest report, they even indicate that more than a million vaccines are about to expire.

During his visit to Cusco, the head of Minsa did not hesitate to respond to the harsh questions of the press on the subject of immunizations.

“You always ask me the same thing. Ask about the health issue, the organization hasn't gone down at all. The vaccination process has not slowed down, we are talking at the national level, we are daily vaccinating from house to house in a more rigorous way,” said the questioned minister.

He also made clear the government's position on the stance to combat COVID-19, especially in the face of the eminent possibility of facing a fourth wave of infections.

“A budget of 1 million 23 thousand soles has been achieved so that at the national level we have more vaccinators and vaccination brigades and that they are in all sectors,” he said.

“Vaccinations are insured, the payment of the staff, everything is insured. I am going to Antonio Lorena because for many years this work has been paralyzed, I come on behalf of the President of the Republic to take action on the matter and that this is once again taken up and at the service of the people,” he continued.
