Congressman Jorge Montoya, from Popular Renewal, acknowledged excesses in the he criticized former President Fráncico Sagasti, who proposed that signatures be collected to present an initiative that would modify the Constitution and shorten the presidential and congressional period in order to call for new elections and thus overcome the political crisis.
It should be noted that Montoya, had published on his Twitter account that he was ashamed of “having a climber who came to the palace with tantrums and left in the same way without pity or glory with political conceit that blinded him and made him a de facto disastrous pseudo ruler”
This Wednesday, in conversation with RPP, the legislator continued to criticize the way in which Francisco Sagasti was elected as president, since, according to his version, the demonstrations that took place in 2020 for Manuel Merino to resign from the presidency were encouraged by Sagasti himself. However, he mentioned that in his tweet he sought to use words that impact so that his message could be understood and that is why he used the term “de facto”.
“It may be that I have committed some excess in the vocabularies that I have used on that Twitter,” he said.
GENERAL ELECTIONS
Regarding Sagasti's proposal to shorten the presidential term through the collection of signatures and a law that passes through Congress, Montoya said he disagrees as the vacancy motion against President Castillo is now in process.
He considered that vacancy is the fastest method if only the president is to be removed. “Doing the other means a year on the road, with many obstacles in that period,” he said
“If we don't get the number of votes (to empty Castillo), we'll see what is the alternative way to solve the crisis,” he added.
He added that he does not rule out any proposals in the future, but clarified that the path indicated by Sagasti “does not make sense now as it is being presented, because it is long term.”
CENSURA A ENRIQUE WONG
On the other hand, on the possibility of Congressman Enrique Wong being censored and leaving the Board of Parliament after news reports that revealed his closeness to the former Minister of Transport Juan Silva, Montoya said he hoped that it would not be necessary to activate a censorship process and hoped that the Podemos Peru legislator would decide to withdraw himself.
THEY WILL VOTE IN FAVOR OF CONDORI'S CENSORSHIP
While Montoya had initially said that they would give Health Minister Hernán Condori 30 days to assess whether he deserved censorship or not, this time he explained that the deadline he had been given the minsa holder was also conditioned by the delivery of the support of his answers in the interpellation.
He commented that he did not receive the documents that should support Condori's answers regarding “being able to detect cancer in a minute” and another that certifies his practice in gynecology. He pointed out that they even sent the minister two offices asking for the documents, but they did not get a reply.
Montoya was confident that the censorship against Hernán Condori will be approved and confirmed that the entire Popular Renewal bench will vote to make it so.
