Independent negotiates with former River Plate footballer from Ukraine

The player was in Metalist Kharkov, the same club where Geronimo Poblete arrived from, who would be at the disposal of Dominguez in the face of the possible lifting of the inhibition by Benavídez

With a short squad and lack of results, Independiente coach Eduardo Domínguez hopes that as soon as possible the club will be able to solve its problems in order to be able to have its most recent addition available, Geronimo Poblete, from Ukraine. A similar case could be closed in the next few hours: it is the former River Plate, Juanito Cazares.

Like Poblete, the Ecuadorian was in the Ukrainian Metalist Kharkov and was offered to the coaching staff in charge of Dominguez, who accepted his arrival and the next step is for the creation flyer to be able to agree on his salary so that he can join on loan this season. The red leadership would have no problem adding it since the payment owed to Defensor Sporting by Carlos Benavídez would be a fact and in this way the Avellaneda club would be lifted.

If that conflict is unlocked, Poblete could already play and would also pave the way for Cazares to join, an offensive wheel that would bring solutions to the Domínguez cast that requires players in the middle of the court, both in the work of containment and recovery of the ball, and when it comes to generating the game.

Juanito, 29, already knows Argentine football since he was at River Plate between 2010 and 2012, but only played two games. He later played in Banfield, from 2013 to 2015, with 44 games, 8 goals and 6 assists. He then moved to Brazil and achieved his best level there at Atlético Mineiro, where in four years (2016/2020) he scored 31 goals and had 23 assists. Then, between the second half of 2020 and all of 2021, he was in Corinthians and Fluminense.

In January of this year he arrived at Metalist Kharkov, but due to the invasion of Russia in Ukraine he was unable to play officially and his work was reduced to some friendlies and training. When the activity stopped due to the war, Cazares and other players had to look for a way out and that is why FIFA intervened with the players who were in these two countries so that they can continue their careers in other countries, initially for this season.

However, Juanito has a long preseason in Turkey, which physically left him very well standing and in this way he would have no problem being able to catch a fast pace in the event of his arrival at Rojo.

The player also seeks to add minutes and have continuity to try to show himself and achieve the consideration of the coach of his national team, Gustavo Alfaro, who is third in the qualifiers and is one step away from leading the Tri to his fourth World Cup participation after Korea-Japan 2002, Germany 2006 and Brazil 2014.

Cazares played for his country in Independiente del Valle, where he made his debut in 2009 and in Barcelona in Guayaquil, where he played in the first half of 2013. The possibility of Independiente seduces him by the competitiveness of Argentine football and the participation of the Avellaneda club in the Copa Sudamericana.

Juanito is fast and has experience that they can serve in Rojo who needs to add reinforcements and try to recover in a League Cup in which he comes from losing the classic (1-2) to Racing and is tenth among 14 teams, in a competition that has already completed half of its regular phase and where the top four will qualify for the knockout instances.
