Francia Márquez was ratified as the vice-presidential formula of presidential candidate Gustavo Petro on the side of the Historical Pact, a party that also achieved a high vote in the legislative elections.

Although the information seemed to have been leaked earlier, this Wednesday morning the pair that will face the presidential elections in May and with which they have said they will want to win in the first round was confirmed.

Among the candidates running for the Casa de Nariño for August of this year, Sergio Fajardo and Federico Gutiérrez are in the first places of intention to vote, whom they will have to overcome in order to reach power, although there are more political rivals to beat and who could gain strength as time goes on.

Iván Duque's successor will face several challenges with the country, including commitment to the environment, peace, social justice, post-pandemic economic growth, diplomatic relations with Venezuela, insecurity, emigrants, etc. so the road ahead for the country will not be easy.

In recent days, some candidates have been participating in open debates on Colombian television where, in addition to showing their proposals, they have left some controversial phrases and some images that have become memes like that of candidate Federico Gutiérrez when he took a photo of Petro from his wallet.

While the left-wing candidate has suspended his “attendance at debates until transparency of votes is guaranteed” referring to the alleged recount of votes that would have been managed by the National Registry and which ultimately did not transcend.

Petro is now trending for the appointment of Marquez as his formula for the vice presidency, causing a furor on networks and also all kinds of comments for and against various political figures and different citizens.

Other characters also made themselves felt like Professor Gilberto Tobón Sanín, who did not reach the Senate of the Republic despite having one of the biggest votes on Sunday of elections for Congress.

Cathy Juvinao, newly elected House Representative, also shared a trill expressing her joy at the news despite being a member of the Green Party.

In the middle of the news, there was talk that Gustavo Petro had waited for a meeting with the Liberal Party before defining himself by Marquez as vice-presidential formula, to which Senator Armando Benedetti came out with a trill denying that rumor.

Other citizens demonstrated in a great way, also saying that with this appointment there is a greater chance that Petro and Márquez will win the elections in the first round. Here are some trills.

Márquez will then begin his campaign work in order to attract the most attention and votes possible for the elections that will take place on May 29 and which will decide the thinking that will lead the country for the next four years.
