On March 27, one of the most prestigious and important film awards will be held: the Oscars. Just days before the big night, the musical artists who will be accompanying the evening with their performances were confirmed. The Colombian singer, Sebastián Yatra, is on the list. 'Dos Oruguitas', a song performed by the musician and which is nominated for the Oscars, will be playing at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, in the United States.

'Two Caterpillars' is part of the soundtrack of Encanto, Disney's first animated film inspired by Colombia. Under the work of Lin-Manuel Miranda, the song managed to be nominated in the category of 'Best Original Song', in which they are also competing 'Be Alive', theme of the film 'King Richard'; 'No Time to Die', from the film of the same name by James Bond, 007; 'Down to Joy', by 'Belfast' and 'Somehow you do', from 'Four Good Days'.

“Hello everyone. How are they? I want to make this video to tell you something very special. We are officially confirmed to sing this Sunday, March 27 at the 94th Oscars. I'm going to be singing 'Two caterpillars' representing my country, Colombia, and having this great opportunity to represent our language, Spanish. I couldn't be more excited, grateful (...) I have nerves, I feel a lot of things, but more than that, thanks to life for what is happening. Everything that happens never ceases to amaze me. I see them there. Thank you,” Sebastian commented in a video posted shortly after the announcement on his Instagram account.

In addition to the presentation of Sebastián Yatra, Billie Eilish is expected to be on stage, who will perform, alongside her brother Finneas, 'No Time to Die'; Beyoncé, for her part, will perform the nominated 'Be Alive' of 'King Richard' ('King Richard: A Winning Family). Reba McEntire, in her wake, will sing “Somehow You Do”, composed by Diane Warren for the film 'Four Good Days' ('4 days'). He will only be absent from the presentation list Van Morrison, who wrote and sings “Down to Joy” from “Belfast”. He is reportedly on tour at the moment.

It should be remembered that the Oscar awarded by the academy is aimed at the composer, that is, if 'Two caterpillars' is the winner, the prize would not be directly for Sebastián Yatra, on the contrary, it would be for Lin-Manuel Miranda. In the event that Miranda wins the Oscar, she would join the exclusive group of the 'EGOT', to which those who already have other awards such as the Emmys, Grammys and Tony belong to her name.

Sebastián Yatra already had the chance to perform the song in front of an international audience. It was during the past week that the Colombian made a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel host's show, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live! '. “Two caterpillars. Thank you for this moment, 'Yatra commented on her Instagram account next to a fragment of her presentation. The Colombian was accompanied on stage with a guitarist and a pianist.

Last February, a video was made public through social networks showing the Colombian reacting to the announcement of the Oscar nomination of 'Dos Oruguitas'. “Let's go hijuep*ta,” Yatra said before jumping on his couch, excitedly. Yatra sat on her couch and, with her hands on her head, as a surprise, she kept smiling. “This is not to be believed,” he commented, adding, “Colombia, we are nominated for an Oscar.”

“Being one of the first Colombians to represent my country at the Oscars and one of the few Latinos to have been nominated, in the most important, most prestigious award because it brings together performance, music, culture, is something very spectacular,” he told the press when he heard the nomination.
