The far-right candidate Federico Gutiérrez announced that in the coming days he will meet with former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Juan Manuel Santos. The purpose of the former mayor of Medellín will be to talk about the implementation of the Peace Agreement between the State and the extinct FARC.

Gutiérrez, who received the support of the La U party and is emerging as a candidate of the Democratic Center -enemy of the peace agreement-, said that he will comply with what has been agreed between the State and the guerrilla.

He also insisted that the focus of the discussion of the peace agreement are the victims of the armed conflict and for them he intends to work if he reaches the Casa de Nariño. For now, the exact date of the meeting between Santos and Gutiérrez is unknown, but the candidate himself has already asked him for an appointment, which is yet to be approved, according to RCN Radio.

On March 23, the former mayor of Medellín received the support of the U Party during the first bench meeting after the elections of March 13.

During the meeting, the director of the community Dilian Francisca Toro presented the results obtained in the elections and called for us to work together and to continue strengthening work from and through the regions, bearing in mind the importance of 'Listening to Change'.

The meeting was attended by Presidential Candidate Federico Gutiérrez, who received from the director the document 'Keys to Democratic Government in Colombia', which contains a structured agenda on 3 axes that the Union for the People Party considers fundamental to work in the next Government: Great Transformations economic, major social transformations and peace and security.

In presenting the document, the director of the U Party said: “The country's situation presents great challenges that require immediate and structural changes, Colombia demands an innovative policy that, responding to citizen needs, reconciles change and continuity with concrete solutions.”

Federico Gutiérrez, for his part, thanked the Party for the confidence in presenting his proposal, spoke of the importance of working together with all the political sectors of the country, “I need political parties not only to win, but to govern.” He added that he wants to be president because he is driven by the desire to transform institutions, travel the country and work for the regions.

Finally, the presidential candidate signed the document delivered by the leader of the community and committed himself to articulating a programmatic agenda where the three proposed axes play a leading role in his government agenda.

A couple of days ago, Federico Gutiérrez and Germán Vargas Lleras met to establish a possible alliance with Radical Change, as this party becomes a key token for the presidential candidates, who seek to win directly on May 29.

Apart from the candidates mentioned above, there are important figures such as Rodolfo Hernández and Ingrid Betancourt who stand out to the public, however, political forces outside the presidential contest seek to join those who have the greatest chance of becoming president, with this the parties may have some predominance within the government.

The meeting between Gutiérrez and Vargas Lleras was held at the Carlos Lleras Restrepo Foundation, as was able to establish RCN Radio, the Bogotá politician dialogue with the former mayor of Medellín about a possible union, however, there was no specific point to define this link and the doors were left open, because in this case, Vargas is the representative of Radical Change who is endorsed by the party to establish communication with all candidates and looks forward to hearing further proposals.

Facing this meeting, Vallecaucano Senator Carlos Abraham Jiménez told RCN Radio that the dialogues established between Radical Change and any candidate for the presidency should be directly linked to a party's program agenda, bearing in mind that the aspirant seeking to lead the country must have a package legislation similar to that of this community in order to establish a commitment to move it forward.
