Double premiere: J Balvin and Ed Sheeran announce the release date of their two songs

They met in a gym in New York, since then, the musicians have maintained a strong friendship, now they share two songs and, according to Sheeran, they recorded more

It has been for a long time that Colombian singer J Balvin and his English colleague, Ed Sheeran, have been making mutual references of their work. Followers of both musicians fueled rumors of an alleged collaboration between the two. This week, the artists cleared the gossip and officially announced the date of the release of two songs. 'Follow Up' and 'Forever My Love' will be available this Thursday, March 24. According to what the British musician highlighted, in addition to the songs, there will be two music videos accompanying them. The visuals will be distributed on the YouTube channels of the two.

Balvin and Sheeran revealed the news with the help of a photo in which they are seen together. In the picture both posed with funny grimaces. While the name of the song 'Follow' appears in the upper corner of the photograph, 'Forever My Love' appears in the lower right corner.

Before the announcement, the Colombian and the Englishman recalled the photograph that started the wave of rumors of a collaboration together. Both appear sitting in a space where they seem to have had a long conversation. “How it started vs How it goes,” Sheeran commented when he published the photograph of when he met Balvin and another one in which he is seen with the Colombian reggaeton player in the recording studio.

Earlier this week, Ed shared a video in which he explained how he met Balvin and in which he told how they decided to work together for the double release. According to him, he met the paisa in a gym, in New York, in the United States. “It was just him and me very early in the morning. I recognized his voice when he was on the phone, so I walked up and greeted him. We talked so much that we ended up having lunch and then having afternoon tea,” he said.

The relationship grew stronger, he emphasizes, so much so, that they became friends who kept talking. “I was in New York for Christmas for the shows, so we decided to have a day in the studio that led to much more, which they will discover soon. But the first two songs we wrote are 'Follow' and 'Forever My Love', they're coming out soon and I absolutely love them. He wanted to take me to his world and I wanted to take him to mine. It was a real challenge to learn Spanish for this and I had a lot of fun doing it. I hope you like it as much as I do, and expect more to come,” he explained.

Balvin's version added more details to the story. José said that six months have passed since that first time they met. “Everything good takes time (...) I was in the gym and I said: this man is similar to Ed Sheeran, because that's how it was, it was him. We had a coffee, talked about life and we were left with a chimba vibe, we created a genuine friendship by talking from the simplest to how to be a father,” he said initially.

“In New York we stayed from seeing each other one day in the studio and well after that you will see what we did (...) the first two songs we did “Follow” and “Forever my love” are coming out soon. I wanted him to be on a song in the world of reggaeton and he invited me to his world, it was brutal to listen to it in Spanish and we hope you enjoy this as much as we do. A lot of love and peace on earth”, he stressed for his part.
