Through the General Directorate of Epidemiology, the Ministry of Health (SSA) updated the most recent COVID-19 figures in Mexico. According to the Daily Technical Report, 5 million 636 thousand 54 total infections and 322,119 accumulated deaths were recorded until the 5:00pm cut-off.
So in the last 24 hours, 554 new infections and 12 recent deaths were recorded. With this, the country had the lowest number of deaths from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in the country. This is the second time that March has recorded a lower figure, the first occurred on March 14 with the same figure as Tuesday.
Mexico has maintained a downward outlook in terms of mortality from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, since so far it has a -96% reduction in mortality compared to the highest peak in previous months.
On the other hand, the health authorities specified that so far there have been an estimated 5,913,743 cases and 4,933,754 people who have recovered from the coronavirus disease. So there is an estimated 10,847 active infections.
In relation to hospitalization at the country level, there is also a significant reduction in the number of people hospitalized due to the coronavirus. There is a decrease of -97% compared to the maximum occupancy recorded since February 2020 -the date on which the pandemic began in Mexico.
The saturation of general and ventilating beds did not change in the last 24 hours, i.e. occupancy is maintained at 7% and 5% respectively, the same ones that were recorded on Monday 21 March.
COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign in Mexico
The Ministry of Health continues with the immunization day against coronavirus. Health authorities continue to administer the antigen to people who wish to be vaccinated. Today, Tuesday, March 22, 33 thousand 562 doses were applied daily.
So since the start of the vaccination campaign in December 2020 to date, 188 million 885,665 doses have been delivered, it should also be noted that only 116,630 doses have been lost.
In addition, the health authorities reported that until the last information cut 85 million 533 thousand 607 people have been vaccinated, of which 79 million 548 thousand 382 have a complete scheme and 5,985,225 have new schemes.
