
In the latest report by the Conmebol Disciplinary Unit, four fines imposed by the governing body of Colombian professional football on Millonarios FC in the second phase of the 2022 edition of the Conmebol Libertadores Cup are evident.
The current leader of the Colombian first division championship lost the 4-1 series to the Brazilian club Fluminense and after the matches played in Bogotá and Rio de Janeiro, received financial fines ranging from US$19,000 for violations committed during the continental championship.
Within the Bogotá squad, they were aware that with the move to phase 3 they could reorganize their finances by receiving a large sum of 600,000 dollars (2,317′077,296 Colombian pesos), but there was no way to achieve the task and on the contrary they suffered monetary sanctions in their attempt to reach four years later a group stage.
This was the resolution of the Single Judge of the Conmebol Disciplinary Commission in which Alberto Gamero's delays were involved, the use of fireworks by the fans, throwing objects, among other things:
1st. To formally RECEIVE Mr. ALBERTO GAMERO, for the infringement of article 5.1.11.6 (Arrears) of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Club Manual. If a new infringement of this nature is repeated in CONMEBOL Libertadores 2022, it will be sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the Manual.
2nd. IMPOSE on the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB a fine of USD 5,000 (FIVE THOUSAND US DOLLARS) for the violation of article 10.2 paragraph c) (Lighting flares, fireworks or any other pyrotechnic object) of the Disciplinary Code of CONMEBOL and article 19 paragraph e), f) of the Safety Regulations of the CONMEBOL. The amount of this fine will be automatically debited from the amount to be received by the CONMEBOL Club in respect of Television or Sponsorship rights.
3rd. IMPOSE on the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB a fine of USD 6,000 (SIX THOUSAND US DOLLARS) for the violation of article 10.2 paragraph b) (The throwing of objects) of the CONMEBOL Disciplinary Code. The amount of this fine will be automatically debited from the amount to be received by the CONMEBOL Club in respect of Television or Sponsorship rights.
4th. IMPOSE on the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB a fine of USD 5,000 (FIVE THOUSAND US DOLLARS) for the violation of Article 36 of the CONMEBOL Security Regulations.
The amount of this fine will be automatically debited from the amount to be received by the CONMEBOL Club in respect of Television or Sponsorship rights.
5th. IMPOSE on the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB a fine of USD 3,000 (THREE THOUSAND US DOLLARS) for the violation of article 19 paragraph q) of the CONMEBOL Security Regulations. The amount of this fine will be automatically debited from the amount to be received by the CONMEBOL Club in respect of Television or Sponsorship rights.
6th. IMPOSE to the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB a WARNING for the violation of article 5.1.11.6 (Arrears) of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Clubs Manual.
7th. To expressly warn the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB that in the event of any repetition of any infringement of sports discipline of the same or similar nature to which this procedure has caused the present procedure, the provisions of Art. 31 of the Disciplinary Code of CONMEBOL shall apply, and the consequences thereof could be derived.
8th. NOTIFY Mr. ALBERTO GAMERO and the MILLONARIOS FUTBOL CLUB. This decision may be appealed to the CONMEBOL Appeals Commission within 7 (seven) calendar days from the day following the notification of the grounds for this decision pursuant to Article 67.2 of the CONMEBOL Disciplinary Code. The appeal must comply with the formalities required by article 67.4 et seq. of the CONMEBOL Disciplinary Code. Pursuant to Art. 67.5 of the Disciplinary Code of CONMEBOL, the appeal fee of USD. 3,000 (US DOLLARS THREE THOUSAND) must be paid by bank transfer.
