Despite not signing the motion of censure against the head of the Ministry of Health, Hernán Condori, the Popular Force Bank confirmed that will vote in favor to remove him from office. This was stated by its spokesman, Hernando Guerra García.
Congressman Naranja told El Comercio that they abstained from signing the initiative of Avanza País parliamentarian Diego Bazán, out of respect for Renewal Popular, and that its spokesman, Jorge Montoya, announced that they would give the minister one month to evaluate his management.
“For the same reason, once the interpellation is over, we waited for Popular Renewal to make a decision, because he said: we are going to give it a deadline. And we, in that respect, waited to see what happened. Yesterday [Tuesday] it was signed, it was delivered, our signatures do not appear, but our agreement has been taken from before. It is an agreement that has been discussed and, in the end, what matters are the votes rather than the signatures,” he explained.
In this sense, Guerra García assured that the votes of his bench will tip the scales to achieve censorship of the questioned minsa head. “We politely waited not for the minister, but for those who doubted a little. We have not doubted [...] The votes that will make a difference will be those of Fuerza Popular. I hope that the 66 votes will be reached, we will see how Podemos Peru and We are Peru behave. There are some of Somos Perú who have signed, but that doesn't assure you of the block. Equal in Popular Action”, he estimated.
For her part, the legislator of Fuerza Popular, Martha Moyano, agreed with what was said by her spokesperson and assured that they will support the Avanza País initiative because it is already an internal agreement in their political group.
“There is a bench (Popular Renewal) that even gave 30 days of grace to Mr. (Minister Hernán Condori) to see what he does. Now, finally, the 30 days are not fulfilled and they decide to file a motion of censure, which we will support because it is an agreement of our bank,” he said.
“It's not about whether or not you signed the censorship, whether you submitted it or not, it's about our position as a bench and we have not only pointed out that it (the government) is full of many people who are proven corrupt, but that they are also related to Movadef,” he added.
It should be recalled that the congressmen of Fuerza Popular, like those of Peru Libre and Democratic Peru, abstained from signing the motion of censure. In total, there were 10 legislators from Avanza Pais, 2 from Juntos for Peru, 3 from the Purple Party, 7 from Alliance for Progress, 3 from Somos Peru, 3 from Popular Action, 3 from Popular Renewal and 2 not grouped.
