Last Monday, March 21, the facilities of Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) were inaugurated. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) went on a hike and even reached the top of the control tower.
It was there that one of the most peculiar scenes of the event took place. On site were the federal president, the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo, researcher Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller and some other officials and air operators.
Those present heard a brief explanation of the air operation process inside the enclosure, which prompted the joke of López Obrador's wife, who jokingly recalled a comment made by former president Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018).
“How long does it arrive? ”, the writer questioned the flight operator about the arrival of an aircraft at AIFA, “No more than five minutes”, she replied, to which Beatriz commented as a joke “No, less. Like...”, he said and then laughed.
All the people accompanied Gutiérrez Müller's laughter except AMLO, because he reacted with a serious countenance and shaking his head, and then looking away . After noticing these gestures from her husband, the writer adjusted her tie, turned her gaze and acquired a serious countenance even though Del Mazo continued to laugh at the joke.
After the video showing this uncomfortable moment between the presidential couple was released, the influencer Chumel Torres came to the researcher's defense and assured that her joke had made her laugh, so he sent her all his support.
“On this account we were laughed at Betty's joke. All my support. #SíALosMalosChistes”, wrote the host of El Pulso de la República from his Twitter account.
Users of this social network did not miss this comment and decided to express their feelings about it. Some, based on memes, indicated that what Gutiérrez Müller mentioned was not a joke against Peña Nieto, but that they invented a dialogue to supposedly ask about the presidential plane that has not been sold.
Some others asked her to cooperate with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to testify on the complaint that Senator of the National Regeneration Movement, Bertha Caraveo, filed against her for alleged gender-based political violence due to several insults she issued during her program The Pulse of the Republic.
So far, the researcher has not issued any message regarding Chumel's comment. If so, it would not be the first time that both clashed on Twitter, because in mid-2020, when the content creator was invited to a forum on classism and racism, AMLO's wife apologized for making discriminatory comments against her son.
“Is this character invited to a forum on discrimination, classism and racism? I'm still expecting a public apology from this individual about the attacks on my underage son. @CONAPRED #ConLosNiñosNo”, he wrote.
He accompanied his statement with an invitation to the forum, where he marked Chumel's name and a screenshot of a video by Torres called “El palacio de chocoflan”, with which he referred to Jesús Ernesto López, son Beatriz Gutiérrez and the president of Mexico.
Two days later, the youtuber apologized. “My mom would have already scolded me for not apologizing to @BeatrizGMuller for offending her boy. But my mom's gone. But since she's always seeing me and I don't want to make her angry. Here it goes: Clearly neither I nor my team thought it would have all this impact,” said Torres.
