Brazilian star Rivaldo spoke about the Colombia team: “Qualifying is complicated but there is still hope”

The Colombia National Team faces the Bolivian National Team on the penultimate date of the qualifying round, a key match in which the Tricolor will have to score the three points if it wants to maintain the hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Reinado Rueda's team arrives under the shadow of unrest, due to the bad moment the team has gone through in recent matches. Seven dates without desire and equal number of matches without scoring a single goal, two negative streaks that have the Colombian National Team on the verge of elimination. In addition to all this, the fans, in the last match played at the Metropolitano de Barranquilla, expressed their disagreement with the team's performance after the defeat against Peru.

Despite the fact that the Colombian National Team has great figures that stand out in their teams such as David Ospina, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Matheus Uribe, Alfredo Morelos, Luis Díaz, among others, they have not been able to consolidate a solid team in the qualifiers, so they now depend on other results to qualify for the World Cup which will be held in December.

This is a rather strange and incomprehensible situation for many, as is the case with Rivaldo, one of the greatest legends of Brazilian football and who recently referred to the situation of the team in the qualifiers. Let us remember that so far Brazil and Argentina already have their quota for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, while Ecuador is very close to achieving it.

The former Brazilian player and also an idol of Barcelona, spoke of the moment that the Colombia National Team is going through, something that seems inexplicable to him. At a bookmaker event, Rivaldo stated that the team dropped their level a lot and the team is going through a difficult time in the Playoffs. Recall that after playing the World Cup in Russia 2018, coach José Néstor Pékerman, who led the previous two qualifications, left, in his replacement came the Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, however, the hit in Quito, made him leave the team and that is how the era of Reinaldo Rueda began.

Regarding the options that the Colombian National Team has to qualify, he noted that, “Colombia's classification is very complicated but there is still hope. Colombia has great players who have to give their all to get 6 points. They must be inspired by the people who see them, by their dream of going to the world championship and of adding that feat to their professional career, even through the repechage”.

And then he stressed that, “I would very much like to see them at the World Cup, especially since I have a great memory of Colombian players with a warm game. The current team must draw inspiration from those previous selections to qualify.”

“I feel that Colombia is not playing up to the quality of players it has. There are players by name playing outside the country such as Luis Díaz and Cuadrado who have to take command to win the decisive games that are coming and get that long-awaited ranking. It needs a lot of work but I feel that the players have the necessary qualities to achieve it,” Rivaldo said.
