One of the greatest concerns of the mass migration of Venezuelan citizens to different parts of the world, due to the crisis that is now being maintained under the presidency of Nicolás Maduro, is the welfare of children. This was mentioned by Eduardo Battistini, Juan Guaidó's representative to the Government of Colombia, currently in charge of affaires. He confirmed that his office will give birth certificates to children born in Venezuela, but who were not presented before migrating to Colombia.

“The most dramatic case is that of children who go out with their parents fleeing the humanitarian crisis and fail to be presented in Venezuela, and are left in Colombia in a stateless situation,” Battistini explained on his twitter account.

The official assured that after carrying out all the necessary procedures before the Colombian Foreign Ministry, from March 23 all Venezuelan children in Colombia, who were not presented in their country, will be able to receive their birth certificate, “for all legal purposes within Colombian territory.” “Thanks to the dictatorship, thousands of children have left the country without being introduced; for this reason, and thanks to the strong relations that exist between the Venezuelan Embassy in Colombia and the Colombian institutions, we were able to recognize the birth certificates made from the Embassy,” he said.

As he pointed out, the only requirement to obtain the document is to present the 'live birth' certificate that is given at the time of the child's birth, the same one used to process the birth certificate in Venezuela. The document that is delivered, as of today, is valid for registration in the Temporary Protection Statute, for the identification of minors before the Colombian authorities, for registration with educational units and as identification with health institutions.

Katie Tobin, Special Assistant to President Biden and Senior Director of the National Security Council's Cross-Border Directorate, spoke to the media last week as a spokesperson for Washington, explaining all the details of the meeting between the President of the United States and Ivan Duque, at the White House.

He stressed that the dialogue between the two leaders opened up possibilities for the implementation of strategies for the future, corresponding to the high migration of Venezuelan citizens, afflicted by the crisis in that country, since in this case, both Colombia and the United States have been places where several migrants have been decided to go to look for better possibilities.

According to President Biden's special assistant, the United States government congratulates Iván Duque and all Colombians for the ability to accept and receive all Venezuelan migrants who have arrived in the country. He assured that they consider that this situation has forged ties of brotherhood and also, has promoted the values of solidarity and support for overcoming an acute problem in the South American continent, despite the fact that with the arrival of the covid-19 pandemic it has coalesced together.

This meeting between the two leaders would have made it possible to establish the creation in the future of channels of opportunities for the propagation of employment, in different countries of the continent for Venezuelan citizens, since the American government indicates that this is not only a competence of Colombia, but that there must be cooperation general to solve this crisis strikes the brother country of Venezuela.

After the visit of US delegates to Venezuelan territory, rumors emerged about a possible restoration of diplomatic relations between the Biden government and that of Nicolás Maduro. However, this visit sought verification of the status of some US citizens imprisoned in Venezuela, for which reason, since the Department of State assure that relations between the two countries will continue in the same way, and that the concern continues on the part of the United States about the situation in that country.
