BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Ash Barty, first in the world ranking, announced his retirement from tennis on Wednesday, just at age 25.
“I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do this... It's hard to say... I'm happy and ready. I just know for the moment in my heart this is the right thing for me as a person,” said the Australian tennis player through a video shared on her social networks, in which she was moved.
The announcement comes just two months after Barty won the Australian Open, the third Grand Slam title in his career.
