Drug cartels continue to advance over the national territory. Now, despite being the capital and one of the most protected cities, Mexico City already has the presence of organized crime, among local and national groups.

One of its strategies is to spread terror through “uprisings”, murders and drug messages to communicate their intentions, objectives and requests to their rivals or authorities, as happened in the Tláhuac mayor's office.

On March 22, it was announced that, in the letters placed on the esplanade of the mayor's office, a narcomanta appeared that threatened the head of government of the CDMX, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and the capital's security secretary, Omar García Harfuch. The text was signed with the acronym “MZ”, which identifies Mayo Zambada, founder of the Sinaloa Cartel.

This writing, written in black and red inks on a piece of cloth approximately two and a half meters long, points to “Berenice and Rigoberto Salgado”, mayor and former mayor of Tláhuac respectively, for allowing an atmosphere of violence in the demarcation.

They also gave several names of subjects who allegedly pose as members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) to commit crimes and cause terror in the territory south of the country's capital.

“This message goes to Claudia Sheinbaum and Omar García Harfuch because Berenice and Rigoberto Salgado have a big chair, they've already had so much extortion, kidnapping, homicide and robbery and impersonating CJNG, Luis Alejandro Rioja Cardenas, Alfonso Benítez Ortiz “Poncho”, Jesús Benítez Ortiz (Chucho), Sergio Rioja Cardenas Ojas Uriarte I hope they take cards because here they will go 100 by 35. MZ”, is the full text of the narcomanta that, so far, has not been confirmed or denied by the authorities.

It should be recalled that El Poncho was arrested in May 2018 and identified as a direct collaborator of Miguel Ángel Pérez Ramírez, El MK, son of Jesús Pérez Luna, El Ojos, according to the capital's Ministry of Public Security.

At that time he was presented as a member of the Tláhuac Cartel, a situation in which the threat arose in the drug management of the Sinaloa Cartel, which seeks to seize this “square” to enter CDMX.

It should be recalled that on February 14, García Harfuch reported that leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel have sent representatives to Mexico City to try to expand their presence in the narcotics market in the country's capital.

García Harfuch confirmed that the Sinaloa Cartel is looking to enter the CDMX market

Through a press conference, the official was questioned about attempts to enter the market in the country's capital by the criminal organization led by the Mayo Zambada, before which he explained that last year two arrests were made of subjects linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Two arrests were recorded (at the beginning of 2021), but in December we had another four and in January we had two very important drug insurances, where they also have links with groups in the north of the country,” Harfuch said.

He also assured that the criminal organization already has a presence, and it is estimated that it wants to expand its dominance in the capital: “Specifically, we do believe that there is always a presence and an intention to enter the Mexico City market, but rest assured that we are alert to continue detaining these people,” said the civil servant.

Several weeks after giving this announcement, the members of this group began to fall. In early March, police in Mexico City arrested three young people in the Azcapotzalco mayor's office, who are linked to the distribution of drugs through a courier company for consumption in the country's capital in the criminal business of the Michoacán Family and the Sinaloa Cartel.
