Two people on a motorcycle shot a police module last night in the municipality of Sahuayo, Michoacán. The attack occurred at a surveillance base located on the diversion to Venustiano Carranza and left one member of the police dead and another injured.

The shooting took place minutes before midnight, when two assailants on a motorcycle stopped by the front of the police unit. At that time, the companion drew a weapon with which he fired several shots at three officers who were inside a patrol car stationed at the surveillance base.

After the attack, one security element was fatally wounded at the scene and another was injured in the arm and was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical attention. A policewoman was unharmed from the attack.

Later, a heavy police deployment was recorded at the scene, who worked on the site and implemented a search device in the surroundings to find out the whereabouts of those responsible. The murdered officer was identified as Luis S., 39 years old. At the time of the attack, he was on board a Chevrolet Silverado patrol with economy number 010.

The co-pilot of the police unit, Moisés S., suffered a sharp injury to his right arm, and had to be helped by his companions, while the other officer was unharmed. Agents and experts from the Specialized Crime Scene Unit came to the scene to carry out the investigations, while staff of the Attorney General's Office initiated an investigation kit.

As a result of the aggression against elements of the Municipal Police, members of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) and the National Guard (GN) implemented a surveillance device in the municipality of Sahuayo and its surroundings.
