The dismembered body of renowned businesswoman Johana Paola Chavez Guzmán was found on the afternoon of last Monday, March 21, inside the trunk of her private vehicle that was in her home, located in the Simon Bolivar neighborhood, in the city of Barrancabermeja. Authorities are advancing the investigation into this femicide and Robinson Lardenson Naranjo Gutiérrez, a butcher in the area who was romantically involved with the deceased, is already suspected.

The authorities arrived at the businesswoman's home after several neighbors were alerted by the bad smell coming out of the place; however, Chávez's mother did not let the uniformed men enter, stating that her daughter had not been home since last Friday, March 18, when she left with her partner to a farm on the outskirts of the city. The family member told the authorities that, surely, since her daughter's partner is a butcher, they had meat left out of the refrigerator.

But hours later the authorities returned at the insistence of the community and forced the entrance of the house, there they noticed that the stench was coming out of the Renault Logan vehicle with RHW 825 license plates. Opening the trunk of the car was difficult for the uniformed, but when they succeeded they found the terrible scene, Johana's body decapitated and without arms.

Faced with the findings, the mother told the authorities that she had not known about her daughter since Friday of the previous week, when she told her that she would spend the weekend with Robinson Naranjo in a farm that she owns on the outskirts of Barrancabermeja; however, everything seems to indicate that the owner of the bar 'La Tertulia' never left her housing. Meanwhile, nothing is known about the butcher's whereabouts, but several of Chavez's neighbors and relatives describe him as an extremely jealous and possessive man, who had previously been reported to the police for the constant quarrels and mistreatment of the businesswoman.

Residents of the sector told local media Dígame.com.co that they had previously called the authorities on several occasions because the couple “lived fighting”, but they never imagined that anything worse could happen. In the same way, they pointed out that over the last few days they did not notice any quarrels or requests for help from the house. “It smelled super bad to me, I thought it was my house and I washed everything. Then, since they have a food and beer business, I thought they had been damaged by the meat when the police arrived,” explained one woman.

Another resident of the sector described to Blu Radio that “the trunk had a welding point, perhaps so they wouldn't open it easily. She was found between some sheets.”

The local media reported that Robinson Naranjo is known to be a native of the department of Meta and that he managed a pig farm. In his public Facebook profile, the butcher deleted all the photos in which he appeared and next to the victim; in addition, in the last few hours, he changed his profile picture and placed one full of wires, rods and remains of dry trees.

For her part, the director of the Citizen Observatory on Feminicide, Ginna Pineda, rejected the facts and asked for justice on behalf of Johana Paola Chávez, who, according to the newspaper Vanguardia, left a 12-year-old daughter.

“In Santander, femicides continue, characterized by the immense cruelty and dehumanization of the victims. The climate of impunity is also maintained. We demand justice for Johanna and for all victims of femicide!” , Pineda wrote through his Twitter account. Similarly, the mayor of Barrancabermeja, Alfonso Eljach, rejected the crime and called for “speed in the investigation”.

Chávez's femicide has the inhabitants of the city dismayed, especially the women who expect the authorities to quickly clarify this case. For this reason, several of them gathered in the last hours in front of the entrance of the San Silvestre shopping center with purple t-shirts and banners demanding justice for Johana Paola Chavez.

In tears, Councilwoman Diana Jiménez told the media in attendance: “what are we doing for our women. It is time to ask the authorities for results and ask them to speed up in these cases; also ask the secretary of the woman who has been performing.” The councilwoman's daughter is a classmate of the victim's daughter, noted the aforementioned local media outlet.
