Where is Chilca and what are its tourist places

This district located at kilometer 64 of the South Panamerican Highway has become an attractive tourist destination.

Chilca is a district of the province of Cañete that is located at kilometer 64 of the Panamericana Sur. This place is very famous among ufologists, since for several years many people have been claiming that UFOs or even aliens can be seen in Chilca.

This belief has given the Cañetano district quite a lot of popularity, especially on special dates when UFO fans head there in the hope of witnessing a sighting. However, this is not its only attraction, as its beautiful lagoons known for their medicinal properties and gastronomy also attract tourists looking to escape a weekend from the routine.

UFO MUSEUM

As we mentioned before, Chilca is a well-known destination for ufologists, since it is said that several sightings have been reported in the place over the years. As a result, the Chilcano Victor Tumay Caycho used the garage of his house to set up a museum in which, according to him, he shows different extraterrestrial pieces left by UFOs spotted in Chilca.

However, that's not all you can find in this museum, as there are also Inca and pre-Inca remains that have been found throughout its deserts. The museum is located a few meters from the main square of the district in the Jiron IV Centenario 240.

LAGUNAS

Chilca is also quite popular for its lagoons, since they are said to have medicinal powers, so it is not uncommon to find them full of tourists eager to dive into its healing waters. There are three lagoons that are located in the Las Salinas spa:

La Mellicera: This lagoon is located near the Plaza de Armas and according to popular belief, bathing there will help you cure any infertility disease you may suffer, both for men and women. In addition, it relieves pains caused by arthrosis, and also cures diseases in the ovaries.

La Encantada: It is located a few blocks from Yaya Beach and is visited by those who seek to combat hair loss, cure migraines and improve their eyesight.

La Milagrosa: This lagoon is 200 meters long and 50 meters wide and is rich in mineral salts. It is believed that its clay is an infallible remedy to cure asthma, bone pain, varicose veins and other ailments.

BANDURRIA

Bandurria is an Inca religious and administrative center that was built on the basis of a temple made by the oldest inhabitants of Chilca. If you visit it you can visit the pyramid of Lapa Lapa.

FOOD

Chilca is well known for its large crops of lucumas and figs, you can visit them to immerse it in nature and walk among trees full of fresh fruit. But it's also a great place to try lucuma ice cream. The ones from the UFO brand have been the most famous for years thanks to their delicious taste, so much so that it has become almost a mandatory stop when you are on your way to the south chico.
