On March 13, it was announced that the sole candidate for the 2022 presidential elections of Pact Histórico is Gustavo Petro, the senator won his victory showing that he consolidated a large number of hard votes and in the polls he continues to pose as the favorite to reach the Casa de Nariño. In addition to his campaign, different political sectors of the country have been added, including, from independent parties to leaders, it should be noted that according to Colombian law, no public official can intervene in elections due to conflict of interest.

One of the most talked about in this regard was Daniel Quintero, the mayor of the capital of Antioquia, who, despite the warnings and knowing the law openly, has shown that his candidate is the leader of Human Colombia both on social networks and in its public inversions.

On March 22, it was announced that two members of Quintero's cabinet resigned to join Gustavo Petro's campaign in Antioquia. In the speech made by the president on Esteban Restrepo Taborda, Secretary of Government and Juan Pablo Ramírez Álvarez, Secretary of Social Inclusion and Family, he showed his deep emotion at learning that they had passed the letter of resignation to be part of what he called “taking a step forward to lead the country.”

“It fills me with joy and breaks my heart at the same time, two of my best friends, two of the best officials that the mayor of Medellín has ever had, presented their resignation because they have decided to take a step forward to lead the country,” reported the mayor of Medellín.

Let us remember that the Antioquia region is one of the least supporters of the former mayor of Bogotá, so the challenge for its campaign members is greater, as they must obtain more than the 115,191 votes they obtained in the consultations.

A few days ago, the deputy of the Assembly of Antioquia Luis Peláez, leader of the Dignidad party, filed an action with the Public Ministry to open a formal investigation into a triune in which Quintero demanded that the counting of the legislative voting tables be opened and where he once again made his support for the Historical Pact clear.

“Every vote must be reviewed. Start at the tables with zero votes for the Historical Pact and Citizen Force. What is happening is not new. It's time to have a structural debate on the Colombian electoral system,” Quintero wrote.

The message, coupled with the public display of the mayor's cards, prompted strong criticism from sectors seeking their recall. It should be recalled that Quintero not only supports the presidential candidate, but has on many occasions received the support of Gustavo Petro and other major voters of the left, who have denounced the revocation of his mandate as an intervention by the Paisa business community and sectors close to Álvaro Uribe.

In statements collected by Blu Radio, the deputy assured that his complaint is due “basically because he announces in a triune that he wants to defend the votes of a particular group, which also defends it in the nefarious mayor's office that he is doing in Medellín, but for that reason we denounce Mayor Daniel Quintero to the Attorney General's Office of the Nation for undue meddling in politics, can't do it.”
