The Witcher 3: discover a secret of the video game seven years after its release

The content is part of a side mission of one of the title's expansions

Seven years have passed since the launch of The Witcher 3 and it remains valid thanks to the possibility of adapting to a new generation of consoles or the work that the game community does through the creation of different mods. But, in addition, the very breadth of the title and the depth of its proposal means that hidden details are still being discovered.

Along these lines, in recent days a player discovered the resolution of one of the side missions of the Blood and Wine expansion. The mission in question presents the character of Vivienne de Trabis, a woman who carries a curse that leads her to become a bird.

Geralt de Rivia decides to help her free herself and presents her with two options: either she passes that curse to another person - condemning her to suffer the same as she does - or she breaks with the charm, but in exchange for only having seven years of life ahead of her. Vivienne finally decides on the second option.

Youtuber XLeTalis discovered that if you use the option to meditate for more than 2,500 days (the equivalent of the years of life that the woman had ahead) or if you implement the commands to speed up time within the game, you can find Vivienne dead in the Yennefer's room, in the port of Kaer Trolde (Skellige). In this way, it can be confirmed that the woman finally fulfills the destiny that Gerarlt had anticipated.

If anyone believed that the revelation was a hoax by the youtuber, Philipp Weber - mission designer for CD Projekt RED - confirmed the discovery through his social networks. But, in addition, he highlighted an important detail: the player reached the resolution just when it is about to celebrate seven years since the game was released, giving a “poetic” meaning to his action.

In an interview with IGN, Weber highlighted that this was the easter egg he hid the most in the game of all he did, so he found it very “impressive that they have finally found it.”

“I'm not sure it's the last secret, but I'm sure it's very close. Everyone hid so much detail during the last few months of development that people are likely to find something new one day,” he said.
