Armando Lambertínez, former mayor of the municipality of Canelete in the department of Córdoba, was denounced to the Attorney General's Office for domestic abuse, as his ex-wife Yeis Simanca said in a social media post.
According to the complaint, Lambert's ex-wife assured that since she was pregnant she was attacked by the former mayor of Canelete, she also indicated that as a result of all the physical and psychological abuse she suffered serious episodes of depression.
“This whole terrible nightmare began when I was pregnant physically and psychologically assaulted me. At that time, I thought I deserved it for claiming one of his many infidelities and, perhaps, for leaving my son without his father, a fact that I never thought would happen again; however, the reality was different, it was the beginning of a hellish life, of a nightmare that until Sunday, March 13, almost cost me my life. All these acts of violence led me to a state of high depression,” said Yeis Simanca.
Whoever was the romantic partner of the former mayor of Canelete, commented that although she tried to tolerate everything for the welfare of her family, she understood that she should not be violated. He also stated that he initiated legal proceedings against Armando Lambertínez.
“I made the decision to end this violence that for so many years tormented me. I decided to report my attacker to the Attorney General's Office for the crime of domestic violence of which I am a victim,” Yeis Simanca said in his statement.
For his part, the former mayor of Canelete Armando Lambertínez, assured that in the next few years he will issue a statement addressing the complaint imposed before the control body.
Domestic violence and gender-based violence have been increasing since the arrival of the pandemic and after two years, the numbers are increasing instead of decreasing, thus showing the authorities an alert to turn on prevention and care protocols. According to the figures presented by Medicinal Legal, so far in 2022 there were 2,144 cases of women assaulted by their partners, 6 cases of femicide and five more women killed in events classified by the institute as intimate partner violence.
The above figure shows that this type of violence has been constant, since in 2021 the entity shared that, during January and October 2021, 98,545 women were victims of some type of violence, of these figures, 797 were homicides which increased compared to 2020, in total there were 88 more cases than the previous period. 97,354 women were assessed for injuries or assaults, 16,402 for interpersonal violence, 15,644 for alleged sexual offence, 8,534 for domestic violence and 23,679 for intimate partner violence and 394 cases of suicide were reported.
According to El Tiempo, women who are victims not only ask that violence be prevented and that it stop, but that justice acts in cases that are under investigation or that have gone unpunished. Well, there are cases like that of Ángela Ferro where despite the complaints and evidence against her ex-partner, Miguel Parra, for attempted murder after assaulting her with an axe and causing her more than 7 injuries in the presence of her son, he was released after a year in prison and there was no type of reparation to the victim, in addition, the subject counterclaimed for tampering with evidence.
