Jokes and worn-out were consolidated as two factors already almost common in the folklore of Argentine football classics. However, a joke among relatives following the last superclassic between River and Boca almost unleashed a tragedy in the province of San Juan.

A 24-year-old boy stabbed with a domestic knife and beat his sister and brother-in-law, after they came to his home to “spend” it for Boca's 1-0 win against River.

The incident occurred in the November 11 neighborhood on Sunday night and the couple had to be admitted to a hospital in the area to recover from their injuries.

It was around 22 pm on Sunday night when Enzo Ezequiel Recabarren heard the doorbell of his house. When he opened the door, it was his sister, Yohana Recabarren, 31, and his brother-in-law, Andrés Ochoa Herrera, 29, who arrived smiling, after Boca's recent victory at the Monumental stadium, with a goal by Sebastián Villa.

In a matter of minutes, the couple began to joke about Boca's victory in the Superclassic, but the situation became tense in a matter of minutes.

According to testimonies gathered by the Villa Hipódromo Police Station, Enzo Recabarren did not take the jokes well, became obfuscated and a fight started between the three people.

At one point, between the blows and pushes, Enzo Recabarren grabbed a domestic knife he had on the table and began to give his own sister and brother-in-law punches. He was out of his mind.

As a result of the fight, Yohana suffered severe head trauma and sharp wounds to her head and right hand. For his part, Ochoa Herrera had sharp wounds on his face and in the dorsal region of the thorax. Both were referred to Rawson Hospital in San Juan, where they were kept under observation and out of danger.

Meanwhile, Enzo Recabarren was treated by ambulance doctors in his own home and his condition is stable.

According to San Juan media, for the time being Enzo Recabarren was linked to a contraventional file available to the 1st Misdemeanor Court of the city of San Juan capital.

Despite the strangeness of the case, it was not the first time that there was an altercation or even tragedy following a football match.

On December 9, 2018, when River became champion of the Copa Libertadores, a 21-year-old young man from Misiones named Exequiel Aaron Neris was beaten and stabbed to death by two Boca fans, after he went out to celebrate the triumph in the streets of the provincial capital.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred at 135th and 108th streets of chakra 247. Neris was returning home after having gone out to celebrate the triumph in the classic when he suddenly suffered an attack by at least two Boca fans who were there.

“You can't believe, the neighbors commented that my brother was passing the square to return home when these murderers caught him and because he had his shirt on, they insulted and killed him. How can they do that for a football game?” , Franco, his brother, lamented.

According to the neighbors, moments after the attack, some residents of the area approached the young man, who was lying on the ground, and Neris went so far as to say: “I was attacked for celebrating the match. For being a fan of River.”

The 21-year-old died on the same street while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Apparently, a stab stitch severed an artery.

A month earlier, in the same province of Misiones, a man set fire to a friend's house after an argument by River and Boca, in the preview of the Copa Libertadores finals.

The incident occurred in Apostles and according to police reports the two protagonists “were discussing which of the two was better and the fire broke out”. The victim, named Arturo, stated that a few hours before encountering his burnt house, he had a strong discussion with a friend “on football issues”.
