River Plate confirmed that it decided to suspend for six months the 1048 members and members of the Somos River community “who tried to enter the Stadium with their Single Card on 20/3 despite the fact that they were not eligible because they did not have tickets or purchased tickets”. The transgression occurred in the preview of Sunday's Superclassic in which Boca Juniors won by 1 to 0 (goal by Sebastián Villa) at the Monumental stadium.

This sanction is applied because their irresponsible actions affected the normal income of those who were eligible to do so because they had a subscription (Your Place in the Monumental paid or free) or bought tickets online in the exclusive sale for members and members of Somos River,” argues the statement that the institution published on the official site and shared through their social networks.

THE FULL STATEMENT

According to the timely information, today the Club Atlético River Plate will proceed to notify the 1,048 members and members of the Somos River community of the suspension for six months who tried to enter the Stadium on 20/3 with their Single Card despite the fact that they were not authorized because they did not have tickets or purchased tickets. Beyond the fact that they have been denied access and have not been able to enter the Monumental, this sanction applies because with their irresponsible actions they affected the normal income of those who were able to do so because they had a subscription (Your Place in the Monumental paid or free) or bought tickets online in the exclusive sale for partners and members of Somos River.

Based on the information gathered on the stadium access turnstiles, it was possible to determine that, since Monumental's opening hours, 462 full active members, 84 single active members, 81 full minors, 6 simple minors, 7 international members and 408 members of the Somos River community tried to enter without subscription or tickets. As of today, all of them have been suspended for 180 days as members of the Club or members of Somos River.

In the case of members, regardless of their category, they are suspended for 180 days and are imposed for that period an absolute ban on entering the Club premises and its Stadium as a member, guest or holder of entrance tickets of any kind. During this period, they will not be able to exercise the rights granted by the Club Statute, as provided for in Article 21 of the General Rules of Procedure, although they must continue to pay the monthly fee in order to maintain their regularity and be able to be rehabilitated when the suspension ends.

Meanwhile, members of the Somos River community are also subject to a 180-day suspension with an absolute ban on entering the Club premises and its Stadium for that period as a member of Somos River, guest or holder of entrance tickets of any kind. In addition, they are denied the possibility of acquiring tickets during that period through the sales channels that the Club may have, even for events that take place on a date after the period of application of this sanction.

They are also informed that, if they do not comply with this sanction, to relapse in the conduct that caused them to be subjected to it or to participate in any other contravention that affects the normal conduct of the Club's daily activities and/or its sporting events, they will be plausible for more severe penalties that could lead to their permanent expulsion as a member of the Club or Somos River member and the permanent ban on entry to the Club, even as a non-member.

For the Club, it is essential to understand that those who reach the windlasses trying to enter the stadium without a ticket or ticket are those who generate crowds at the doors and block the accesses, affecting the normal functioning of the system and harming the 70,000 people who do things well.

Since the launch of the RiverID platform in 2019, all Somos River members and members must apply for the single card, which is their means of access to the Stadium. This card is loaded, match by match and without users having to do any additional procedures, the permit to enter the Stadium that enables them to pass the controls on perimeter windlasses and gates of the Monumental. Thus, no user has to come to the Club to look for tickets and the resale of apocryphal tickets and tickets is discouraged because the circulation of tickets outside the unique cards is minimal, only limited to protocols and agreements with sponsors.

Today River has 200,000 unique cards issued to Somos River members and members. Among members who have a ticket (TLM -Your place in the Monumental-, which can be paid or free depending on the location), lifetime members, members without TLM and Somos River members who managed to buy tickets online for this match, there were 65,000 people with a qualifying card. Protocols and boxes were added to them until reaching a maximum of 70,000 places, leaving by the express decision of the Club a margin of free seats to avoid reaching the 72,000 authorized places of the Stadium.

It is important to note then that, out of the 135,000 Somos River members and members with a Single Card who were not eligible to enter, only 1,048 tried to enter, less than 0.8%.

That a small percentage of Somos River members or members - which does not reflect the true spirit of the riverplatense fans - intend to abuse this system and end up hindering the access of others is something that the Club will not tolerate, so from now on this penalty of suspension for six months will be applied to each of them who try to enter the Monumental on match day by supporting your Single Card not enabled on a pinwheel.
