Peru and Uruguay will face off this Thursday, March 24 for the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. Both teams are obliged to add up to continue the dream of going to the next World Cup. For this reason, Gerardo Pelusso, Uruguayan coach, was invited to a sports program and spoke of one of the virtues of Ricardo Gareca's team: facing difficult situations and getting afloat.
“Peru since Gareca has played great performances, it is a team that is used to playing important matches and the more difficult the situation has been, it has been able to move it forward”, was what he said in a conversation with Ovación.
“There are already several borderline situations that Peru has had and has always come to the fore. I remember at the 2019 Copa America that they lost 5-0 to Brazil and was almost out, however, they passed, the team remade and reached the final. In this tie it started very badly and there was even talk of the end of a cycle and they went to Quito and won, now it went to Barranquilla and won against a direct rival. That team has many values”, he added.
He also preferred not to give a winner for the duel, which will take place on the Montevideo Centennial. “It is a reserved forecast, it cannot be predicted with two teams that are very even. The last record in important competitions has been very even, in the qualifying for Russia, Uruguay won here very tight and Peru won tight in Lima. It is very even in the background and in theory.”
