Verónica “R”, who worked as an official in the Puente Grande Metropolitan Prison, had a relationship with José Guadalupe Ávila Guevara, an alleged member of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), who managed to escape with false documentation and helped by his partner in the prison center.
Although there had already been talk of a marriage certificate, the state authorities did not detail the link between the head of the prison's Legal Subdirectorate and the alleged kidnapper of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes's forces, el Mencho.
José Antonio Pérez Juárez, director of Prevention and Social Reintegration of the State of Jalisco, told the local press that Verónica “R” had more than two decades in the public service and had an academic background. He was someone reliable, but he used his knowledge to get the alleged CJNG member to escape in December of last year. Both are currently locked up.
With her legal experience, the State official said, the woman was able to establish apocryphal documentation to simulate a release order, when the criminal proceedings were not yet concluded and whose case became known weeks after the evasion.
