Carriers from Mexico started blockades on several highways in the country on March 22 as a protest to demand greater security on the roads, as they claim that they are constantly victims of robbery in a violent manner.

States such as Guerrero, Querétaro and Guanajuato are the ones with the highest concentrations of protesters, while other groups stationed on highways that serve as the gateway to Mexico City, where the Mexico-Querétaro highway is completely blocked, at least until noon on Tuesday.

The national strike was called by the Mexican Alliance of Transport Organizations (Amotac) to demand that federal security forces, such as the National Guard, implement operations to address assaults and murders against operators.
