MADRID (AP) — Mallorca fired coach Luis García Plaza on Tuesday, two days after the team fell to relegation positions in the Spanish League.

The club, owned by American businessman Robert Sarver, lost 1-0 on Sunday to Espanyol, their sixth consecutive defeat in the tournament.

They haven't won since the home win over Athletic Bilbao in February.

Garcia Plaza was at the helm of Mallorca for two years and led the club back to the first division in its first year.

Mallorca is in 18th place, a place of salvation, after 29 days. His next match will be a visit to Getafe.
