Lolita Cortes revealed mistreatment she suffered in 'La Academia': “I didn't have a good time”

The musical theater actress also took the opportunity to tell if she would be willing to return as a judge to the show

Lola Cortes has stood out throughout her career as a singer or actress, however, something she is constantly remembered for is for her tough role as iron judge on the acclaimed TV show Azteca, The Academy.

The artist had already had a long career in musical theater when she began her participation as a judge in the Third Generation of this renowned singing program in 2004. From then on, he stayed until the ninth season of the show and later he was also a member of two generations of La Academia Kids.

That is why fans of this format of programs have been interested in revealing whether Lolita Cortes will be part again. But, to the surprise of viewers, in a recent interview with Joavier Poza, Cortés mentioned that the situation was more complicated than what was seen on cameras and revealed that not all his moments at La Academiab were as good as you might think.

“There hasn't been any rapprochement so far, there has been a lot of talk about it and many people have approached me about this issue,” he said.

In this regard, the actress mentioned that, if there was a possibility that the ill-treatment of her person would continue as in previous editions, she would not be willing to participate in The Academy again .

The only thing is that if there were to be an approach, you have to put the pros and cons. I didn't have a good time, the people there didn't treat me very well that we say. On the contrary, the same people from other programs were talking terrible things about me,” he said.

Lola mentioned that the pandemic left her many things to reflect on and although she is open to being surprised, she is not willing to tolerate abuse.

“If I came up with a way to work with them there would be a lot to clarify about the people who are still there and who have been a tumor. I'm not the same person I was 20 years ago and I'm not going to let myself be treated like I was 20 years ago,” he said.

It is for all of the above that the actress said she was happy to be now back into musical theater, since she pointed out that the atmosphere is completely different.

It should be remembered that it was during 2021, when Lolita opened up about the difficult economic situation she was experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former judge of La Academia assured that the crisis prompted her to consider taking jobs as cleaners of public toilets in order to earn an economic income.

During the broadcast of the program hosted by Rocío Sánchez Azuara, Acércate a Rocío, the actress who began her career in musical theater with plays such as Anita, the orphan and Vaselina, talked about the difficult situation faced by the actors due to the closure of theaters and how this has been reflected in your home.

“Sometimes we don't have, we don't count to pay for electricity or gas. We bathe whatever, we eat anything, with a roll because we are also in a country where we have a lot of resources, in some way, to get ahead. There were times when I said, 'Well, you have to work on anything, 'now with the pandemic,” she told the show's host.
