A tragic accident occurred this morning in the middle of the Pan-American Highway. A man got out of his truck due to a mechanical malfunction and was hit by another car. According to police sources to Infobae, it happened shortly after the 7 at kilometer 16.8 towards the north, so traffic was interrupted for a few hours.

According to the first reports, Diego Alejandro Sandes Díaz, a 35-year-old man, was traveling aboard a Chevrolet S10 van and was also carrying a trailer. At one point, the rear driveshaft of his left wheel broke and he could not continue with the march. Lying in the middle of the highway, in the third lane, the driver decided to get off to know exactly what was going on.

It was at that moment that a Volkswagen Golf, driven by a 26-year-old boy identified as NGG, rammed him and dragged him several meters. Diego, the sources consulted by this medium indicated, lost his life instantly. According to witnesses, the victim wanted to avoid the impact but due to the high speed at which the VW was driving, it was impossible for him to avoid the impact. The owner of the car, meanwhile, was unharmed.

Staff from the Autopistas del Sol company and members of the Autopistas del Sol Security Department of the Buenos Aires Province Police were present at the site. In addition, a doctor attended who confirmed the death of Sandes Díaz at the scene. Agents of the 3rd Police Station of Vicente López also intervened.

Since the accident occurred, police and road safety personnel restricted the roadway and left a single lane for vehicular traffic to facilitate the work of the experts. The operation generated significant delays for most of the morning and several kilometers of queue in the middle of rush hour.

Around 10 in the morning, the highway was released, although traffic began to decongest very slowly due to the impressive volume of vehicles that usually circulate on that highway every morning.
