From beautiful landscapes printed in miniature, various colors and even denominations, a wide variety of tickets are offered online at huge prices. This time we will announce the characteristics of 5 copies of the most recent ones that Banco de México (Banxico) has, but which are offered at extraordinary costs.
And even though experts and collectors have claimed that they are not worth it, people continue to share the pieces on an internet platform at stratospheric costs. These are five paper money from the G family, a group of the most current that Banxico has presented.
In a recent interview with a Mexican collector, he even said that the prices that various people place on the internet are “ridiculous” to him.
“They are speculators, they give ridiculous values to banknotes that don't have them. It's one thing to try to sell a ticket for its peculiar serial number, at a price perhaps twice its value, but trying huge prices is ridiculous. Sadly people fall,” he shared to the media outlet.
Below we will reveal the characteristics of five copies that are offered between 20,000 pesos to 500,000 pesos, according to some people who place the pieces for sale through a commercial platform.
What are the tickets?
First Copy
From smallest to largest, there is a copy in the first place that has a denomination of one thousand pesos, which was put into circulation as of November 19, 2020.
The beautiful specimen with predominant gray color bears on its obverse the effigy of the promoters of the revolutionary ideals of democracy, equality and justice, former President Francisco I. Madero, Hermila Galindo and Carmen Serdán. In addition, it represents the historical process of the Mexican Revolution and the three personalities are accompanied by a locomotive, which was the main means of transportation for revolutionaries.
While on its obverse is a jaguar, which represents the ecosystem of rainforests, ceiba and sapote trees, in the Ancient Mayan City and protected tropical forests of Calakmul in Campeche, recognized by UNESCO as a natural and cultural heritage of humanity.
This ticket is offered by the Mercado Libre platform for up to 20 thousand pesos, according to one person who put it up for sale.
Second Issue
On step number two of this list, there is a bill with a face value of 100 pesos and the effigy of the renowned poet, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, on one of its faces.
This copy is special, as it was awarded as the best “ticket of the year”. In addition, it entered circulation as of November 12, 2020. According to the Banco de México (Banxico) it is from the G family and was created based on polymer.
On its obverse, the historical process of the Colony was represented with Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, the most important poet and writer of New Spain's literature, accompanied by a vignette depicting a fragment of the main courtyard of the Old College of San Ildefonso, located in the Historic Center of Mexico City.
And on the reverse side you can see the ecosystem of temperate forests with pine, oak and oyamel trees, in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, located in the states of Mexico and Michoacán de Ocampo, and recognized by UNESCO as a natural heritage of humanity.
The cost of this paper money, found to be one of the highest so far is 70 thousand pesos for the same trading platform.
Third copy
In third position is a predominantly blue piece with a denomination of 500 pesos. It was created with cotton paper and has a historical figure depicted on one side. According to Banxico, it was put into circulation on August 27, 2018.
The obverse shows the effigy of the former president of Mexico, Benito Juárez (1806-1872), also known as Benemeritus of the Americas. It also has a vignette showing the triumphal entry of this character into Mexico City on July 15, 1867, symbolizing the victory of the Reformation, of the Church-State separation and the basic principle of equality before the law.
The reverse represents the ecosystem of coasts, seas and islands through a gray whale with its whale in the Biosphere Reserve el Vizcaíno, in Baja California Sur, recognized by UNESCO as a natural heritage site of humanity.
In this case, the piece was put up for sale through the same website at a cost of up to 200 thousand pesos.
Fourth issue
In fourth place is a copy that was also awarded. This is the new 20-peso banknote, which was awarded this year by Estonia-based High Security Printing (HSP) because of its design.
The commemorative copy of the Bicentennial of Mexico's Independence, was awarded under the category of “Best Commemorative 2021″. It was put into circulation on September 24, 2021. The material with which it was created is polymer, has a nominal value of 20 weights and is of the G family. Its predominant colors are green and red, besides it is the first Mexican banknote with mixed format, that is, its front side is horizontal and its back is vertical.
According to Banxico, the obverse shows the triumphant entry of the Army of the Three Guarantees into Mexico City. While the reverse side shows the mangrove ecosystem with its representative fauna and flora, in a site recognized in the “World Heritage” list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as an example of the natural wealth that is distributed throughout the country.
Its price for this copy is up to 300 thousand pesos, according to one person who shared the image on the same site.
Fifth copy
In fifth place is the ticket with the most extraordinary price on this list, and according to the person who puts it up for sale by Mercado Libre.
Created from polymer and with a denomination of 50 pesos, this specimen with predominantly purple color was put into circulation on October 28, 2021.
On its obverse is a vignette of a fragment of the back of the monolith called “Teocalli of the Sacred War”, which shows an eagle perched on a prickly pear with the “Atl tlachinolli” * on its beak; it is currently exhibited in the National Museum of Anthropology and was sculpted by the Mexican civilization, under the orders of Moctezuma II.
While the reverse represents the ecosystem of rivers and lakes with axolotl and corn in Xochimilco, in Mexico City, a world cultural heritage site.
This piece is quoted at up to 500 thousand pesos, according to a person who uploaded it to the commerce page.
It must be remembered that even though the pieces can be marketed at the desired price, it is recommended to visit a store or consult a expert. The copies we will talk about belong to the G family and are quoted together at more than 200 thousand pesos.
