Commercial employees have already received all of the agreed increase in last year's parity and the union is about to discuss this year's increases, for the period from April 2022 to March 2023. After enjoying a 10% increase in March as a result of the application of the last non-remunerative tranche of 13% resulting from the previous agreement, wages may suffer a slight drop in April. This is because the three non-remunerative tranches that were collected as a result of the 2021 parity become part of the salary and discounts are applied to it.
As a result of the latest increase, last year's increase closes at 54% from April, when the percentages are added to the base salary. But there may still be slight drops in the salary received next month, since there will be no “grossing up” or increase in wages, unless the new joint venture is closed on time.
Thus, gross salaries for each category rose in April to $87,188 for maestranza; $92,378, administrative F; $88,451, cashiers; $84,451 auxiliary staff; $88,451, salesman. But we must emphasize in that list the fact that they are the gross ones, and not the pocket salary.
“The three non-remunerative brackets are subtracted from 11% of retirement, 3% of Law 19.032, another 3% for social work and 2.5% of the union. In other words, they are, in short, 19.5% less than that value,” explained Sebastián Domínguez of SDC Tax Advisors.
“For its part, the employer happens to have to pay the contributions, on that tranche that was remunerative. That is, the two sides bear a cost,” he added.
Thus, for example, the employee in the category of maestranza A, who this month received a net salary of $77,132.92, will have his out-of-pocket salary reduced to $76,035.72 in April, according to calculations by Jorge Vega. This, despite the fact that the gross salary of $87,188 remained stable.
Similarly, a category F clerk earned a net of $81,721.22 in March and, in April, would receive $80,552.88 without any change in his gross salary. The same logic applies to all categories.
As professionals explain, the salary of each individual employee may vary due to the characteristics of the settlement. One item that has a great influence is seniority, which can favor those who accumulate more years in the same job. This is because the seniority that is calculated on the remunerative wage now has a higher base from which to estimate it and, in such cases, the fall in net wage by one concept can be more than offset by another concept.
The gross basic wages of the salary scale for trade employees rise for April for each category according to the following scheme:
Basic wages must be deducted from 17% of pension contributions plus 2.5% of union contributions, and from non-remunerative sums, this same 2.5% for the union and 3% for social work, 5.5% in total, according to the specialized website IgnacioOnline.
