It is advisable to clean the sofa and armchairs regularly. The start of a new season is a good opportunity to do so.

German experts recommend, however, avoiding running water and resorting to distilled water for this. The reason: the latter does not contain lime and that is why it does not leave white edges when drying.

Use only little soap

.

The fabric upholstery is cleaned in the direction of the hair of the cloth with a suede slightly moistened with distilled water. If necessary, you can add a little neutral soap or foam from a mild detergent. Some fabric covers can be removed and washed in the washing machine.

Smooth leather covers are cleaned with a suede slightly moistened with distilled water and neutral soap. For suede or nubuck it is better to use distilled water with alkali-free soap, also in this case in a small quantity. It is important to subsequently remove the soap by rinsing with water, on all types of leather.

Treating leather with special products

Twice a year - for example, in autumn and spring, i.e. before and after the heating season - leather should also be treated with special care products.

Cream for smooth leather and oil-free spray for suede or nubuck prevent suede or nubuck from becoming brittle and breaking over time. After each application, it is advisable not to sit or lie down for about two days on this furniture, so that the material is completely absorbed.

Vacuuming crumbs once a month

Experts also recommend removing all dust and crumbs from sofas and armchairs at least once a month. It is important in this regard that the vacuum cleaner has a special brush and use the appliance only at medium power. If crumbs and dust are not removed, they are distributed when sitting and eventually erode the material.
