Christina Ricci will appear in the series “Wednesday”, the character of Los Locos Addams, although not in her original role

The most famous performer of Wednesday Addams in the history of the Los Locos Addams franchise returns. Actress Christina Ricci joined the cast of the Netflix enlisting series centered on the female character and which will star Jenna Ortega. However, it will not give life to a larger version of the remembered Merlina (name that Wednesday had in the Spanish dubbing), but will have a new role in this television production directed by Tim Burton.

The signing was reported by the US press and, later, confirmed by the same streaming platform. Ricci became known in Hollywood from a very young age for his performance in The Addams Family (1991) and The Addams Family: The Tradition Continues (1992). In 1995, she exploited her popularity even more with her lead in Gasparín to consolidate herself as one of the most recognized young stars in cinema. His filmography also includes productions such as The Ice Storm, Desert Blue, Sleepy Hollow, Furtive Lives, Penelope, Black Snake Moan, among others.

Last year, he marked his big return to a blockbuster with Matrix: Resurrections, the fourth installment of the film saga featuring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss; and in turn, he won the acclaim of specialized critics with one of the main roles in Yellowjackets, a psychological drama series that took aired on Showtime's US signal and launched through Paramount+ in Latin America. For the latter, it will return in the episodes of the second season.

After relentless fan requests on social media, Christina Ricci will have an appearance on Wednesday, the Netflix original fiction that will address the adventures of the younger sister of the Addams family. For now, the details behind the character he will play are kept secret for the purpose of granting a big surprise, but it is completely clear that it will not be a major version of the role he played years ago.

What should we expect from Wednesday on Netflix?

Jenna Ortega is one of the young actresses of the moment with her recent performances for the films ¡Hoy yes! , Scream 5 and The Fallout. The 19-year-old star will give life to Wednesday Addams in a coming-of-age style comedy that is written by Al Gough and Miles Millar (screenwriters for Smallville) and directed by Tim Burton. In addition to Ortega and Ricci, the cast is made up of Catherine Zeta-Jones, as Morticia; and Luis Guzmán as Gomez.

The story of Wednesday will be set in the days as a student of the Nevermore academy of the grim protagonist and, roughly speaking, the title is described as part of the genre of supernatural mystery. Gough and Millar are the showrunners and serve in executive production alongside Burton. Kayla Alpert, Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi, Jonathan Glickman, and Gail Berman are also executive producers.

The live-action series, which will be part of Netflix's original catalogue, does not yet have a release date nor has more been revealed information about production. The project was officially announced in May 2021.
