Belinda lamented the injustice of pop music: “It's still macho”

Belinda pointed out that the artistic medium, in particular the musical genre to which she dedicates herself, is “macho” and “unfair”, since she confessed that since she was a child she had to work harder than men to excel. This situation continues even now, as people question her work as a composer.

In an interview with Agencia EFE in Spain, Belinda talked about how, within the entertainment world, it has been evident that there is a different treatment for artists. She recalled that since her childhood it was difficult for her to position herself as a new talent, because “the girls wanted to see the boys”, they told her as part of her first roles in soap operas.

The Princess of Pop assured that when she started working on children's melodramas, since the production they asked women actresses to stand “behind”.

Nowadays, despite the fact that the industry has changed, Beli pointed out that it is still an “unfair” environment for female artists and “macho”, mainly in music and pop, since the requirements they ask of women and men are different.

The interpreter of Luz without gravity showed that they have questioned her work as a composer since her songs are done by her and some collaborators, so there are those who think that she is the one who does the least, even though she could have done almost all the work.

“In my themes there are still five authors, because credit is given to everyone who participates, as it should be, even if they have put a sentence or a word. 'Oh, of course, she won't have done anything', they tend to think. This is always the case, when maybe women have done 80%”, he criticized.

Belinda declared herself a fan of Rigoberta Bandini, a Spanish singer who has attracted attention thanks to songs like Perra and Ay mama, songs that expose situations that women experience and are not a topic of conversation. Her music has positioned itself as an anthem within the marches in Spain for International Women's Day.

The Princess of Pop confessed that she would like to have a collaboration with Bandini, she has even sent her messages through Instagram to get in touch, but she has not received a response.

“I would love to work with her. In fact, I wrote to him on Instagram but he didn't answer me. Please, Rigoberta, answer me! ”, said Belinda.

About why she hasn't released a new album for almost a decade, the performer of Bella Treachión confessed that it is because she needs inspiration and time to make an album, because she likes to put all her concentration on it. In addition, “it was simply not the time. I have no other answer,” he revealed.

However, he commented that “we won't have to wait long” to hear it again on new music.

Due to the upcoming premiere of Bienvenidos a Eden, Belinda revealed that she will continue in Spain for the next six months and more projects will emerge, so she will continue to reap successes in her country of origin. The singer even commented that she would like to do musical theater in Madrid.

On April 1, Bienvenidos a Eden, a Spanish Netflix series, will be released. From her role as Africa, Belinda will return to acting for the small screen after twelve years of distancing herself from the series.
