Not only is Alan Navarro known within the modeling world for various clothing brands and music videos - including No Bailes Sola by Danna Paola and Sebastián Yatra - he is also a singer and was part of CD9, which is considered by Spanish-language music experts as “the last successful Mexican boyband in the history of the country”. Now, turned into a soloist, he did not hesitate to tell the story of who the group ended up for and how it was said ending.
In an interview with TVyNovelas magazine, the actor also assured that the rumors that have existed about what happened to the band are true and the sudden departure of one of its members was the main reason for not being able to continue with the project and not because the rest did not want to continue with the pop and reggaeton songs that had already been conquered the Mexican public, but because the decision of that member caused his label to “freeze” the others.
“One of my colleagues decides to leave and the other four of us are frozen by the label; it doesn't allow us to make music for contractual reasons. But we see that this person is released as a soloist! I don't know, I did see it as a stab in the back,” he says, recalling that in 2020 Jos Canela decided to leave the group and then appeared to present his solo project.
For Alan Navarro, everything is regrettable in this story, since in some way that was done in a dizzying way and without being consulted Alonso Villalpando, Freddy Leyva, Bryan Mouque and him, because the same label released him as a soloist from one moment to the next, provoking a feeling of betrayal in all the members that even stopped the same model caused him an artistic block from which he is still recovering.
“(A Jos Canela) It is released by the same label with which we were in the band. I felt a little betrayed. It gave me a creative block and a very strong depression. We went from this fairy tale that was touring at concerts, to not being able to do anything; it had frozen us after the band disappeared,” he added in the magazine.
The now soloist also confessed that during the golden era of CD9 the band of musical hits such as Me Equivoqué, No Le Hablen De Amor and Ángel Cruel much of the creative process, but especially in the inference of them within ideas, lyrics, costume concepts or even target audience did not depend on them, so now everything seems new and better.
“We played music that we didn't even write, now I've learned to compose and express who I am. Now that people listen to my music, they are going to listen to my experiences and feelings,” he said.
CD9 officially ended on March 10, 2021 after a while without releasing new musical material -which could confirm what Navarro said about the label-. Through a press release that was presented on social media, the successful Mexican boyband said goodbye to its audience that since 2013 has supported them unconditionally during their time in pop, K-pop and even reggaeton.
“There are too many moments, experiences and dreams that we have lived together over the years. During this time, we never imagined how far our dream would go. We enjoyed a memorable trip together and there are not enough words to express and thank them that they were our travel companions in this crazy adventure. We want to thank each and every one of the coders for all their dedication, their passion, their patience and above all for their infinite understanding,” they wrote.
