A son and passion for motorcycles and vintage cars: who is the gun-riddled cop fighting for his life

Leandro Patricio Pezzatti, a 26-year-old Buenos Aires City policeman, was seriously injured during a robbery while doing what he liked best: walking in his motorcycle.

Last Sunday, his frank day, when he was driving through the streets of Cuartel V, in the Moreno match, was approached by two armed motorjets who tried to steal his vehicle. In addition to his life as a policeman since 2017, Pezzatti has been a couple for at least six years and is the father of an eight-year-old boy from a previous relationship. He lives with his mother and a younger sister. His older brother is a doctor and works in an important hospital in the North of Buenos Aires. But what he loves to do most is spend time with his motorcycles. He likes to ride in several of them whenever he can. In fact, his profile on social media accounts for his fanaticism for this type of vehicle.

His passion also exceeds the number of wheels, since according to what his friend Franco said, Leandro also has a preference for vintage cars. He has a Renault Torino, a Chevy and a Ford Falcon.

In June last year, Leandro's father died after falling ill with COVID-19. “That affected him a lot,” said the friend.

In an emotional post on Facebook, Franco expressed his grief over what happened and, with a photo of the victim, asked everyone to pray for his speedy recovery. The message received a massive response not only through the networks. Hundreds of people communicated with the young man to learn more about what happened and to transmit strength to Leandro.

“We are a large group of friends. Everyone, seriously, loves him very much. But what surprised me the most is the number of people who wrote and called me. All shocked and to talk to me well about him. I never imagined it,” said Franco, who just wants to “play trick with his friend again.”

The last medical reports from the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital de Moreno account for the seriousness of the condition. The one yesterday at noon indicated that Officer Pezzatti is in critical condition, under a pharmacological coma, with mechanical respiratory assistance and a high requirement of inotropic drugs to maintain his blood pressure. In addition to the liver burst, he has “a deterioration in his kidneys and the possible need to re-admit him to the operating room due to a right hemopneumothorax”. At the moment, the patient cannot be transferred and his prognosis is reserved.

This Tuesday “he left the operating room where he underwent surgery and continues to be serious”. In 48 hours you will probably be evaluated again for another operation.
