Former President Vicente Fox Quesada mocked Mexico City's (CDMX) Head of Government Claudia Sheinbaum for the praise given to the documentary about Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA).
On the afternoon of March 20, the capital's president praised the audiovisual produced by Epigmenio Ibarra, which premiered on March 18 on the eve of the inauguration of the Megaproject of the self-described Fourth Transformation (4Q).
“I want to confess that yesterday I saw him and my tears came out,” Iztacalco said at a press conference from the mayor's office.
That is why Fox expressed his mockery, through his official Twitter account, in which he criticized Sheinbaum Pardo for allegedly feigned shock in order to continue supporting the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
The feature film published on YouTube documents the step-by-step construction of the administration's flagship project. In the same way, the unprecedented participation of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) in the construction of Felipe Ángeles is narrated.
It was under this tenor that Sheinbaum, likewise, exalted the role of the Armed Forces whose image had been claimed after their involvement in actions other than “the war against drug trafficking,” he said.
“An institution that was unfortunately occupied before for the war against drugs with terrible affections and ailments that remained for the people of Mexico. And today that same army that is a people in uniform with its great military engineers created a work that in three years any country in the world would like to have seen it,” he stressed during the meeting.
It should be recalled that there were around 140,000 workers involved in the project, who now have training and professional experience for having worked on the site, which, after two and a half years, will finally be inaugurated this Monday, March 21.
The great work characteristic of the Fourth Transformation caused great controversy from the beginning as it resulted in the cancellation of Texcoco International Airport promoted by the past administration of Enrique Peña Nieto.
Despite this, the head of government of CDMX has reiterated her support for the upcoming inauguration of AIFA, because during her press conference, she said she was able to visit the facilities and sent a message to the detractors of AMLO: “they are going to be left with the square eye.”
This, after López Obrador accused a campaign by his opponents to “muddy” the construction of AIFA, through the manipulation of information that seeks, among other things, to demonstrate the complexity of arriving at the New Airport by car or public transport, he said.
“We are going to report on how to get to the new Felipe Ángeles Airport, because now that is the campaign against, that it will take a week to get there. (...) That there is no misinformation or manipulation, it is such an important work that our opponents want to muddy it”, he said in his morning.
