U.S. snowboard coach no longer with U.S. Ski and Snowboard

U.S. Ski and Snowboard announced in a statement Sunday Peter Foley “is no longer employed by U.S. Ski and Snowboard as of March 20, 2022.”

Foley had been the U.S. snowboard coach since the team’s inception in 1994. He was on a leave of absence since February 21, and was temporarily suspended by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, pending a formal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct made by several women earlier this month.

It is not clear if Foley resigned from his position or if he was fired by U.S. Ski and Snowboard.

On Sunday Howard Jacbos, Foley’s attorney, told ESPN, “any allegations of sexual misconduct being made against him are false. Mr. Foley has not engaged in any conduct that violates the SafeSport Code, and he will cooperate with the U.S. Center for SafeSport when and if they contact him.”

Allegations of sexual misconduct first came to light during the Beijing 2022 Games when former snowboard cross athlete and 2010 Olympian Callan Chythlook-Sifsof accused Foley and two male athletes of inappropriate behavior.

During his time as U.S. snowboard coach, he’s lead the team to seven Olympic Games and 35 combined Olympic medals.
