The world of tourism and culture will soon have new attractions thanks to a new major exhibition on the disappearance of the Roman Empire in Trier, an architecture exhibition in Vienna and the reopening of the Burrell Collection in Glasgow.

Great exhibition in Trier on the fall of the Romans

Why did the Roman Empire disappear, so culturally developed? This question is at the heart of the exhibition that will cover three museums in the city of Trier, in southwestern Germany.

The special exhibition “The Fall of the Roman Empire” will be inaugurated on June 25 and can be visited until November 27.

More than 700 objects will be exhibited at the Rheinische Landesmuseum (Trier Rhenish Regional Museum), the Cathedral Museum and the Simeonstift City Museum, according to the German Association of Unesco World Heritage Sites. Information: www.untergang-rom-ausstellung.de

Housing of the Future, at an international exhibition in Vienna

Architecture lovers can start planning a trip to Vienna for next European summer. The final presentation of the International Construction Show (IBA) will take place in the Austrian capital from 23 June.

According to Wien Tourismus, “new buildings and neighborhoods in the city” that are examples of new forms of social life will be presented there until 18 November.

The event will feature guided tours and walks through neighbourhoods and construction projects, as well as an exhibition in the building of the Norwestbahnhalle railway station in Vienna. Information: www.iba-wien.at

The Burrell Collection will be revisited in Glasgow

One of the largest private art collections in the world will soon be exhibited again in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Following the renovations, the Burrell Collection will open its doors to visitors on March 29.

The museum's space has been expanded by a good third, so that even more works from the collection will now be exhibited.

The exhibition is a sample of five millennia of art and history. According to the Visit Scotland page, 14th century Ming vases, medieval glass art and paintings from the Impressionist period will be exhibited. More information at www.burrellcollection.com
