The arrests of eleven suspected members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Superblock 107 in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Cancun, Quintana Roo, have resulted in the resolution of 13 homicides recorded in the entity, including that of businessman Federico Luna Cervantes, former Coparmex leader in the status.

To date, they have managed to solve 13 homicides that they committed, we were bringing the data, we were comparing and confronting them, the contribution of the information they gave to determine the places where these bodies were located was also valuable,” said the State Attorney General, Oscar Montes de Oca.

The arrests of those responsible resulted in the discovery of at least 8 bodies in the vicinity of the Paraíso Maya subdivision, in regions 106 and 107, where work is still being done on their identification. This revealed that the criminal group was engaged in the kidnapping of rival narco-nudists to extract information from them, but also from local businessmen.

They were arrested on March 18 in Cancun while holding three people abducted. One of them had an amputated finger, another was a minor — with 'Amber' alert — and the others were two young men.

Luna Cervantes, referring to the place where the bodies were found, explained that it could not be properly described as a grave, since the remains were found at ground level, near the home where the alleged members of the CJNG were arrested.

“It cannot be determined that they are narco-graves because they abandoned the bodies to the ground. Over time they were covered with the vegetation itself, and in some stones were placed to try to disguise or hide them, all this was in superblock 107 in a jungle area and green areas, very close to where they were arrested,” the prosecutor expanded.

“These victims were identified by them and were objective because they were competent, almost all of them dedicated in the context of drug trafficking, obtained information from them, aligned them to sell for them or, where appropriate, give information about the entire structure of the opposing groups to which they belonged and when they did not want to collaborating with them deprived them of their lives,” he added.

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE) reported that the 11 suspects were transferred this Sunday, March 20, to the Benito Juárez Social Reintegration Center by personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), National Guard (GN), and the State Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).

According to local media reports, investigations into those responsible for the kidnapping and disappearance of Federico Luna Cervantes had begun about two months before the operation on Friday, 18, as the prosecutor's office had previously issued a public record on the disappearance of the businessman.
