According to reports shared by the United States, in Tijuana there is a total record of approximately 1,300 people from Ukraine and Russia who are in different status, either as asylum-seekers or asylum-seekers in the United States. This is derived from the conflict that currently exists between the two countries.
So far there is no news of any rejections, as reported by Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard on March 21 during the morning conference from Felipe Ángeles Airport.
He also explained that there are between 50 and 60 Mexicans registered in different parts of Ukraine, a country invaded by Russia.
Almost a month after the start of the Russian invasion, Ukraine estimates that 850 civilians have died due to the conflict and that there are another 1,400 injured in the country due to violent attacks by Moscow troops. The invasion that began on February 24 of this year has prompted Ukrainian residents to leave the country. Such is the case of Mexicans who lived in the place. Faced with the need to escape the territory, the federal government began an operation to bring compatriots to Mexico.
