The entrance examination at San Marcos University has generated much controversy in recent days, because it was discovered that the exam had been leaked prior to the day of the official assessment. Following the dissemination and confirmation of the fact, UNMSM announced that the admission examination would be cancelled. This surprised all applicants, including students who indicated that they had prepared for more than a year for the assessment.

One of several cases is that of a young applicant, who showed her indignation at the university's decision. She took her exam for the degree in industrial engineering and claimed to have been prepared for several months. It was through a live broadcast that he learned about the fact.

“Annulment? It's a shame for all the students, I prepared for a year for this exam. I'm going to industrial engineering. No one had informed us inside. I'm going to look for my parents,” said the applicant as she withdrew from the university city and with a gesture of confusion. The reporter, seeing his reaction, went on to explain to him the fact and reason for the annulment.

MORE REACTIONS FROM APPLICANTS

That was not the only case, there were more applicants who found out about the cancellation when they had already left the classroom assigned to them.

My parents are just telling me that they are canceling the exam today and yes, it is a sad thing because I have always prepared myself. It had a base. I am based at UNI (University of Engineering) and that is why I came to see my studies, and it is a fraud for me. For me it was a disappointment. They haven't handled it well. Now in my living room I saw that there was a policeman who saw some leaves. I didn't pay that much attention to it because I was solving my exam,” one student told Canal N.

It is a shame to our country of such a prestigious university and to become suspicious in this fraud. This has been heard since the week. And what about parents and children. We lose money to corruption. It has to be insured [the money spent], but what about the time of our children, were the words of a mother who waited for the departure of her son who took its examination at the same time as the annulment was announced.

PAYMENT FOR RIGHT TO EXAMINATION

One of the concerns of applicants is to know what will happen to the money they invested for the exam fee.

The rector of UNMSM, Jeri Ramón, announced that the necessary precautions will be taken to prevent cases like this from happening again in future evaluations.

“The payment (by way of entitlement to the admission exam) of applicants is assured. That is, those who retake the test on the dates to be announced will not have to make additional payment for it. On the days when the new tests will take place, no more information has been provided, he only focused on emphasizing that they will ensure that the leak does not happen once again,” said the rector of the UNMSM.

“We ask for parents' understanding. We cannot allow students to enter buying tests and who have not dedicated themselves to studying. San Marcos is competition, San Marcos cannot afford to receive businessmen within our beloved alma mater,” said the rector at a press conference since the university area. Jeri Ramón ended his presentation by noting that “San Marcos is not sold, San Marcos defends itself”.
