After Jeri Ramón, rector of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, informed citizens that the 2022-II admission process will be annulled, there are thousands of young people who practically stayed with their “arms crossed” in the face of this decision.
Let's remember that this decision is made, after someone leaked the exam just before starting the admission process for this year. It is worth mentioning that many young people are preparing for more than a year to provide the most requested test in Peru.
Like many of these young people, behind them there are many parents who have sacrificed a lot so that their children can access this test. Next we will learn the testimony of Walter Evangelista, a 66-year-old retiree, worked tirelessly to pay for the preparation and admission examination of his 17-year-old daughter.
RETIRED FATHER PROTESTS AT CANCELLATION OF EXAM IN SAN MARCOS
According to Don Walter Evangelista, he worked day and night to pay not only for the payment of applying to San Marcos, but the stay, food and tickets of his youngest daughter, since she comes from Huancayo. Great was the joy when the young woman managed to enter the dental school of UNMSM. However, this was somewhat fleeting after the statements of the questioned rector.
From outside the Central Admission Office (OCA) of the Dean of America, the retiree told Radio Exitosa about the great sacrifice he made, so that now his daughter is left without a vacancy.
“In the condition of a layoff and retiree and with a pension of S/850 you have to juggle to stay here in Lima. You have to juggle to make them study at the academy,” he explained.
Despite not having enough means, Evangelista said that every sacrifice was made out of love for his daughter and that despite everything that is happening in the house of studies he is proud of her.
“Righteous people pay for sinners,” Walter said, explaining that the news was a “bucket of cold water” for him and his daughter.
Don Evangelista has not been reassured by the university's position and this Monday he raised his voice of protest along with another group of students affected by the “vividness and lack of ethics” of some.
For the elderly and the rest of the protesters, it is “disrespectful” that no university authority comes out to talk to them and offer them an alternative solution. “And who gives me back my time?” , he wonders.
Don Walter assures that he will continue to protest “until the last consequences” and that, if necessary, legal action will be taken for the decision of the UNMSM rector's office.
