The spokeswoman and parliamentarian for Juntos for Peru, Ruth Luque, spoke out against the current Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Felix Chero, who replaced Angel Yldefonso Narro. The parliamentarian said she hoped that the first change would be that of the Minister of Health, Hernán Condori, because of the questions she has.
Given this, he only said he hoped that Chero Medina would publicly rule against the decision of the Constitutional Court (TC) ) following his failure to allow the release of former President Alberto Fujimori, who would leave Barbadillo prison in the coming days.
“I would have sincerely hoped that the first change would be the Minister of Health. (...) With regard to the Minister of Justice, I think it is regrettable that the president cannot generate appointments of officials who are far from procedures, from situations of that kind. Here the first commitment will be to adequately safeguard the interests of the country before the supranational bodies in this context in relation to pardon,” he told Canal N.
BENCHES DO NOT RULE OUT QUESTIONING THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE
Félix Chero Medina was sworn in as Minister of Justice and Human Rights last Saturday, 26, without considering that his record for defending a person convicted of rape and being convicted in the first instance of the crime of sponsorship would take its toll with a sector of Congress, who have spoken out against his designation and do not rule out promoting or supporting a motion for interpellation against them, such as Renewal Popular and Somos Perú.
Faced with this possibility, Ruth Luque said that his bench would have to meet first to take a stand in the face of a possible interpellation.
“When the motion (for interpellation) is filed we will surely have a bench meeting to take a joint position. I would have to listen to him (the minister) and on that basis make decisions. I reiterate my call for all appointments to be made within the framework of suitability, build trust and stability. (...) It could be done in the best way (Chero Medina's election),” he added.
ABOUT FUJIMORISM
At another time, Luque gave an interview in which he spoke on the vacancy motion against President Pedro Castillo and spoke in against Fujimorism, assured in a personal capacity that she would vote again for the current president.
“I don't want to define nor do I want to speak as a representative. In particular, in the Fujimorist context that I observe, I would vote for Pedro Castillo again, I tell you personally, I would never vote for Fujimorism because of all that it has meant,” he indicated for the cameras of Panamericana TV.
On the other hand, she was asked about the various questions about Pedro Castillo and whether her party led by Verónika Mendoza was wrong to sign an alliance.
“As he has always said, New Peru was always on the basis of a programmatic agreement, this has always been the affirmation that was made and signed in conjunction with other commitments and they were guiding participation and support for this government of change, which has been so called. There was a set of positive actions that have been promoted and that I do not think at this time and I am going to do it in a personal capacity, absolutely individual, it does not end up complementing each other and as an example there is a high expectation that it is on the agrarian issue”, he said.
