In the preview of Peru vs. Uruguay, Fabian Carini, exporter 'charrua' spoke exclusively to a local media outlet. The retired goalkeeper gave his opinion on the match for Qatar 2022 Qualifiers and was encouraged to publicize his preference for Claudio Pizarro. The Uruguayan placed the 'Bomber of the Andes' ahead of Paolo Guerrero and Gianluca Lapadula.

“If Paolo Guerrero, Claudio Pizarro and Gianluca Lapadula were active, I think Claudio is the one who could generate the most things for you. He is a spectacular player, he always lent himself for the shirt from Peru”, was what he said in conversation with RPP.

He also talked about the present of the Peruvian national team. ““Paolo and Jefferson are players of the hierarchy, now there is a lot of talk about Lapadula and they manage to generate scoring chances. But beyond proper names, Peru has good footballers from midfield onwards.”

Finally, Carini referred to the way in which the Uruguayans could harm the 'blanquirroja'. “I know a lot of players from Uruguay and I don't think they think Peru is easy. I think it's going to be a close and even match. Uruguay has to take advantage of the issue of stature, still balls”.

HIS OPINION OF PERU VS. Uruguay

“It's an important match, Uruguay is playing at home and full stadium. He is going to face a team similar to his in that they have a lot of time together and used to playing this type of match”, he replied when they asked him for the penultimate duel of the 'bicolor' in these qualifiers.

“We are looking forward to this great match that is coming to us, we can place Uruguay or Peru in fourth place, a direct classification that is the big goal”, complemented the former goalkeeper who had a time in Italian football wearing the Juventus, Cagliari and Inter shirts.

THE ENTRY OF DIEGO ALONSO

Uruguay had a positive change since the incorporation of the former Monterrey technician from Mexico. So far he hasn't lost. He won on a visit by the slightest difference to Paraguay in his debut and then thrashed Venezuela 4-1 at home. For this reason, Carini recognizes that their entry into the 'celeste' was important for them to now be in the direct classification zone.

“If we look at the scoring issue, Diego Alonso's arrival was spectacular. He was able to win against Paraguay and Venezuela at a time when it seemed all uphill. The change of coach after many years was good,” he said.
