The congressman of the Peru-Libre party, Álex Paredes, expressed his full support for the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo and the appointments in the Cabinet that have been made in recent months. He was asked in an interview with Canal N about the current Minister of Justice, Felix Chero, who is questioned for having defended as a lawyer a subject who was sentenced for rape.
Given this, Paredes said that it is important to question people when they are carrying out their management, not because of what they have done before.
“What we are questioning is the exercise of the work of a legal professional. I will repeat and I always repeat it, question the person when he is in office. The minister's sentence of 2018, was shelved, there were the corresponding appeals, but it ended up being a meaningless sentence,” said the parliamentarian.
In that regard, he was asked whether Chero's appointment was suitable and replied that “he sees no reason why he could not be.”
“I don't see why it can't be a suitable designation. I invite people who question to visualize from day one and work to make it follow up on the actions that authority does and then say what it said,” he added.
THANKS FROM ENRIQUE WONG
The second vice president of Congress and parliamentarian of Podemos Peru, Enrique Wong, was caught thanking the former Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Silva, the appointment of his parliamentary advisor Manuel Talavera as chairman of the board of the Callao National Port Company (Enapu), someone Wong himself would have recommended.
“He is a man who has quite a lot of experience. Well, I don't speak for any kind of interest. But thank him because one of the trusted men... ”, Wong is heard saying.
Faced with this audio that came to light, Álex Paredes previously defended the former Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Silva. “I don't just defend Juan Silva, I defend all the people President Pedro Castillo appoints, I follow the same line,” he added.
He added that Wong is the one who has to answer to these accusations. “I wonder, the people who are appointed and what if they have some level of ability to take responsibility, is that to be questioned?”
“This is all speculation. I very much respect the right to freedom of opinion and thought, but I don't share that criterion or judgment,” he said.
On why the parliamentarian would thank the minister of transport, he stressed that it is an act of “courtesy” and that he does not see anything wrong with him.
“Because the person being appointed was part of Mr. Wong's team and that courtesy team, I don't know why they should be questioned, on the contrary, the man who was appointed what work he is doing, they are questioning him on the subject of the duties he is performing,” he said.
“I don't see it bad, what happens if someone goes to the office called to take responsibility and I happen to meet the person who appointed me. I don't understand why so much questioning and censorship respect the functions that people do”, he concluded.
PLAGIARISM OF MINISTER CHAVEZ
The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Betssy Chávez, who would have plagiarized almost half of her thesis that earned her a bachelor's degree at the Universidad Nacional Jorge Tacna Basadre. After a specialized review, it was determined that up to 12 sheets of the research would have been literally copied from another work.
About that, Álex Paredes mentioned that if he has seen the report, but she should give her version, since “we only have one and the other should be heard”.
