March 21, 2022: rituals to welcome spring

Since ancient times, the arrival of spring has meant an opportunity to start with change and attract good fortune.

On March 21, several countries welcomed one of the most awaited times: the arrival of spring, a date on which many and many take advantage of it to perform various rituals that help good fortune or good health.

It is one of the most important events because the so-called spring equinox, is the astronomical event that marks the end of winter throughout the northern hemisphere. A change that has a mystical, religious and cultural significance for a large number of people.

Another important aspect is that it is the only time in the year where day and night have the same length. According to the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), spring officially arrived in Mexico on March 20 at 09:33 hours.

It is important to note that the time at which the spring equinox begins changes slightly each year, the reason for this phenomenon is due to the fact that the journey of the Earth takes approximately 365 days, five hours, 45 minutes and 46 seconds to go around the Sun completely, the variation in time is what causes certain alterations in the astronomical event.

Jesús Galindo Trejo, a researcher at UNAM, emphasizes that “for ancient civilizations, the balance between day and night is an ideal time for humans to also balance their passions and weaknesses and thereby strengthen their mind and body”.

Likewise, Martha Pico, also called “grandmother of strength” in the Mazahua culture, adds that the rituals for this celebration are very old, because since past centuries it was “time for planting in cultures such as the Celts and Mayans. It also represents the symbol of fertility par excellence, as it is the season when nature greens. It is a time when rites are commemorated all over the world, such as the Shunbun no Hi in Japan.”

Although the exact timing of this season varies, people often receive it with a series of rituals. Here are some of the most common ones.

The rituals to welcome spring have been practiced by various cultures around the world.

It is said that to be surrounded by positive news for the rest of the year, it is elementary to perform this ritual. This is a series of steps that must be done throughout the day. The first consists of sweeping every corner of the home and rearranging the furniture, in this way all the energies that were encapsulated will move.

Afterwards, you should dress in white clothes and meditate at least 10 minutes. In meditation there must be a lot of concentration and you have to start by thanking, then you can start asking for personal things or things for loved ones.

Finally, it is necessary to plant some plant in the garden or in some park. A small hole must be made where some seed is deposited together with a sheet on which the aspects that are sought to be improved are written, in addition a coin and an old key must be added to it. When burying the objects, you have to ask the tree to bring positive things.

For this ritual you need 1 white candle, 1 glass of water, different types of flowers and seeds of any kind. The objective is to represent the four elements (water, earth, air and fire) through these materials.

It is important that before starting the ritual the person who is going to perform it is calm and with positive thoughts. It is also essential to be in an open space and before starting you must ask the earth and the universe to let go of everything negative and everything that does not belong to the person.

Then a prayer begins to be held in which you have to specify what you are asking for, and you should also thank for the present and bless the future. During this process the candle must remain lit until it is consumed, once this occurs you can follow the daily routine.

Balos with herbs are a way to purify the body

Another way to shake off negative charges and receive a new time of year is by taking a herbal bath. It takes rue, sage and eucalyptus, then it is necessary to bring water to a boil and add ingredient by ingredient until there is an infusion, once it is warm it must be used for bathing.

While the person takes the shower, he must have clear thoughts and ask the universe for positive things, then he has to notice an improvement in mood, which means that the unfavorable energies have gone away.

In addition to the practices mentioned, you can also write a letter with all the negative that happened in the year and burn it, then write a new one with all the wishes that the person has. Another option is to grow a seed of some aromatic herb such as rosemary, mint, peppermint, dill, sage, basil, lavender or thyme.
