Comas: Motorcyclist dies after being hit by Metropolitan feeder bus

Another motorcycle driver also lost his life in an accident early Monday on the Evitamiento road, at the height of the Santa Anita bridge.

In the early morning of Monday, two motorcyclists died in different traffic accidents. The first of them died in the Comas district, after losing control of his motorcycle and being hit by a Metropolitan feeder.

Pedro Esaúl Angulo Herrero, 42, who looked smiling in his photos and even passing by in Superman's suit, died at the height of the 12th whereabouts of Revolucion Avenue, in the Collique area, after going through two potholes and not being able to control his vehicle. Angulo Herrero fell off the bike and ended up being hit by the bus.

I was riding the bike. The first pothole has passed, with the second one he has already lost his balance and the Metropolitan, who has not been speeding, has passed and has run over it,” one of the witnesses told the Latina news program.

Another witness commented that the young man fell under the feeder bus and that the rear wheels were the ones that landed above him.

Latina Noticias found that in the area there is little public lighting, lack of signage and absence of traffic lights, which would generate constant traffic accidents.

“There have always been accidents with deaths on this avenue,” said a local neighbor, pointing to the crosses and small houses that people build next to the track where some of their relatives have died. In addition, he requested that spring breakers be built to prevent further accidents.

After arriving at the scene, Angulo Herrero's relatives starred in dramatic scenes of pain.

DEATH AT THE SANTA ANITA BRIDGE

Another case of the death of a motorcyclist occurred hours later, on the Evitamiento highway, at the height of the Santa Anita bridge, heading from north to south.

According to the license plate of the vehicle unit, it would belong to Jean Pedro Durant Retuerto.

The victim would also have lost control when hitting a vehicle. The helmet and the motorcycle were left lying on the track.

As a result of the accident, one of the lanes of the track was closed until the body was lifted.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS

It should be noted that from January to September 2021, 766 traffic accidents with fatal consequences were recorded throughout the country, involving motorcycles, motorcycle taxis and bicycles, according to the Peruvian National Police (PNP).

Of the figure mentioned, 584 correspond to accidents involving motorcycles, 119 with motorcycle taxis and 63 with bicycles, Colonel PNP Oljer Benavides, head of the Traffic Accident Prevention Division of the National Police, told the Andean Agency.

In the same period, 12,300 non-fatal accidents on motorcycles, 5,572 in motorcycle taxis, 687 on bicycles and 156 on tricycles were reported nationwide. In these cases, there was physical injury to the victims and material damage.

The departments with the highest number of units involved in non-fatal accidents involving minor vehicles were Lima (7,643), followed by Piura (1,495), La Libertad (1,374), Junín (818) and Arequipa (645).

In addition, from January to November 2021, 128 deaths have been reported from accidents in minor vehicles in Metropolitan Lima alone. Of this total, 96 involved motorcycles, 19 cyclists and 13 motorcycle taxis.

With regard to motorcycles, October 2021 was the month with the highest number of fatal accidents, with 17 cases, followed by June (11 cases), July (10) and March 2021 (9).
