A few days after the match between Uruguay vs. Peru for the penultimate date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, a former Charrúa World Cup player named Álvaro 'Tata' González, who was a talented creative flyer, gives himself time to talk to Infobae about what this duel will be like for both teams, who are very close to reaching the World Cup.

“I foresee an even match, Uruguay is going to try to handle the ball because of the characteristics of the players it has and try to avoid the danger of the goal itself by going to look for a Peruvian court. I think we need to be vigilant, since Peru has the weapons to be able to hurt,” Álvaro González told Infobae at first.

The former World Cup player with Uruguay revealed to us that perhaps in Uruguay they look superior to Peru, but they still have to be focused if they want to enforce their centennial fort. “In Uruguay, perhaps there is an excess of confidence, which gave him the fact of winning the last matches against Venezuela and Paraguay, but I think Peru is another rival, which has complicated us a lot in qualifying and comes with Gareca to achieve an important visiting result. So, I think it will make things difficult for Uruguay, in addition to the need that Peru has to achieve an important result,” 'El Tata' told this media outlet.

Alvaro Gutiérrez believes that Peru loses a lot to the absence of Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfan in their attack, however, he believes that collectively the bicolor has enough weapons to harm Uruguay in Montevideo.

“It is true that Peru lacks those important players like Farfan and Guerrero, but it has been able to show itself as a team and that often teams dissimilar individualities. I have seen Peru as a team that can hurt despite the absence of important players,” he told Infobae exclusively.

Finally, since the sale of tickets for this match against Peru was announced, Uruguayan citizens swept the tickets and a full house is expected at the Centennial. Therefore, Álvaro 'Tata' González believes that public influence will be key in this type of match. “We will see what happens, the locals of Uruguay and Peru have always felt each other, whether it is playing in the Centennial or in Lima. It is difficult for the visitor, but it is key that both teams can make it to the World Cup, so they will have to go out and look for it. Let's hope for a good match and the best one to win,” he said.
