The Minister of Culture, Alejandro Salas, in an interview with Latina Noticias, commented that the initiative to advance general elections, which according to the premier Aníbal Torres, was to be announced by the president Pedro Castillo, was treated only at the technical table before in the Council of Ministers.
Salas explained that there was a technical and political table for the preparation of the content of the message of the head of state, which was convened on a Sunday when many ministers were traveling carrying out tasks in their portfolio.
“When the Council of Ministers is called to approve the president's message, obviously, the final text is put where various points have already been debated on which the message of the President of the Republic was already closed. In this technical working table, before the Council of Ministers, of course the possibility of advancing elections was touched upon as other points, but in the final text the President of the Republic said: 'I want to reach Congress with a consensus message, not I want to confrontation, so the text that I want to bring to the country has to be one of dialogue and consensus, '” said the head of Mincul.
He also pointed out that during this technical round table there was an arduous debate on the content of President Castillo's message and within this decision was the possibility of incorporating the advance of elections.
“There are ministers who were not there since the beginning of the text, because they were traveling, what is approved by the Council of Ministers is the final text and proof of them is what the President of the Republic is going to expose to the country,” he said.
ABOUT THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE
On the other hand, Salas added that Ángel Yldefonso decided to give up Justica's portfolio for the sake of governance and regarding the questions to the new Minister of Justice, Félix Chero, asked not to try him ahead of time and clarified that was acquitted in a judicial proceeding against him.
“We are with an opposition that is observing every day and one thing is questioning and another impediment. So, we have to divide the contexts and see if any of the ministers are prevented from holding office. Questions can often be subjective, you have to analyze them, you don't have to prejudge and ask those people so that they can download directly,” he said.
SOME OF HIS PHRASES
The most controversial phrases come to light by the current Minister of Culture, Alejandro Salas, who published in 2015 and 2016 on Twitter with racist, homophobic and against a left-wing government. Your account is currently deactivated.
Among the racist tweets and against a leftist government that were found, some phrases such as “Chilean, compadre, the court of your mother, araucano and the p... who gave birth to you”, “creating politicians with values, not smart politicians such as the Chinese, the fat man, the cholo and now the pisao” or “the left does not should exist, the left ends when other people's money ends.”
Nor did the LGBTI community escape their homophobic expressions: “Let them buy their goods together, not camouflage gay marriage.”
Alejandro Salas also has words against the Peruvian left, although Pedro Castillo is a leftist tendency. Thus, the new Minister of Culture has expressions about former presidential candidate Verónika Mendoza, accusing her of being a terrorist.
“His team is also made up of people from Movadef, the legal arm of the Shining Path, that is what he called in his work 'The new path', a communist government wanting to disguise itself as a liberal, as dangerous for the country as Verónika Mendoza,” a 2020 tweet reads.
